    • Hi there,

The new RocketTheme site and elements of the membership model were based on feedback from a survey of members conducted a year back. We took onboard the main things people were asking for. Two very high on the list of requests were the ability to purchase lifetime templates and improved documentation. Both were addressed during the recent changes.

This caters for ease of updates and provides a whole new area of documentation. It even allows members access to the individual template forum. No longer having to post in the free public areas in the hope of getting a solution.

Developer Membership is really very cost effective for developers as they have no restrictions on number of templates or sites. As a fulltime developer it is not hard to recoup the $300 for Joomla sites in the course of a year.

As for experimenting this is not an issue if you are in one club as you get access to all templates but you can only publish them according to your membership entitlement. Nothing at all to stop you from experimenting on a localhost on your PC or Mac.

And don't forget our current offer for this month - www.rockettheme.com/blog/team/113-spring...-and-theme-purchases - 30% discount on individual templates.

If we were to take the marriage analogy further then it would appear that you would like an extra category - The Affair - so you can sample the other products without committing to a relationship.

    • Just in case RT would change something in the future to attract to the club more people like me here are a few possibilities that might interest me (and perhaps others):
      • Guarantee for downloading template updates for templates published until the end of the club membership or
      • Guarantee for updating via Extension Manager updater templates already installed or
      • Memberships limited to the use of a few templates only (e.g. 3 or 5) and
      • In addition: the possibility of use both Joomla and Wordpress templates

Basically I'm asking for the same thing, just not limited to a single template or a single website, but to a few of them.

I'm for the marriage! Just for love and not for fear of a divorce's consequences! :)

    • For me it's Andras's last bullet point that matters. I do not understand why with three licences we cannot try the templates in Wordpress, Joomla, Magento or phpBB? We are not one-trick ponies interested in just one RT child (CMS/web method). It's RT that is the family I want to subscribe to, not just one of its offspring. I currently have six licenses for Joomla and am only using one at present and I can't try anything from your other offerings.

To carry David's "affair" analogy further, I'd not be having an affair if it's all still used within the RT family. An affair would be using alternative providers. In any case RT was my affair from other steady relationships. I succumbed to the delights of the sexy RT only to find it was expensive to take out to dinner let alone spend the weekend together... As for lifetime commitment, I can't do it as it wants lots of care and attention and will make it difficult to let go. The more I learn about it the harder it gets to forget and whilst being given glimpses of all it has to offer, I'm only allowed to play with certain parts unless I pay more, continually!

So maybe it's time to see what else is out there and end this affair, or perhaps it's time to go back to the old relationships and see if we can't make a better go of it after all? I'd go for the marriage too, but it's the way it could end, as Andras says, that could all become very messy.

    • I want the same thing.

My membership for Joomla expires in 2 days.. I don't think I can carry on my membership.

There needs to be an all you can eat package based on number of site licenses. It makes little sense to pay for the fairly high price of the other clubs (especially how behind Magento is compared to the others)

Very often we'll deal with a customer who initially likes the design but later wants to add a feature that is better accommodated in another CMS. This would typically force us to purchase a membership to the respective template club. It's a little better with the single purchase templates.

The nature of our industry typically has us bouncing around multiple designs based on our clients whims. An all you can eat license type package would be welcome.

Client's whims and my whims! - An all you can eat package would be great. I could then try out any template solution and if I or the client likes it, we could then purchase the templates and updates for it forever, or if it exceeds our license limits, add more licenses or still purchase outright.

It's no big change to your current subscription methodology, just add a new universal package where a license grants yearly access to 1, 2, 3 or more licenses. In all functional reality, I see little point for the current 3 month (1 license) and 6 month (2 licenses) packages. They perhaps cater for the testers out there who just download the lot and then can't update later, but long term those packages are poor deals.

The nature of RT, CMS's and their need for RT bug-fixes and updates, means anyone joining really needs to think about it long term. RT has a wonderful product, but you are not letting people like us fully utilise what you have to offer and so we will fall by the wayside.
