    • currently only paypal (at least last time I checked).

Yes I see your point. It would make more sense to ask for info, pay, then create the account with the script. Does mosLock only work with PayPal or does it work with other payment gateways without a hack?

    • I have no experience with it, but I understand that amember (amember.com) works with Mambo/Joomla. It is an additional module. It works with the major payment gateways & processors like paypal and authorize.net. I am hoping to try it out in the next couple of months. There is a free trial available.

On a side note - is Jamboworks available for custom integrations and modifications of 3rd party scripts/applications. If so, can you provide a qoute with the necessary details?

      Thanks,

    • Andy,

I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that posting your mos_lock hacks to integrate 2Checkout would be very beneficial.

A release of the subscription expiration module would also rock (I assume the source of this is GPLed, so distribution shouldn't be a problem).

Finally, I a want to set up a portfolio using the format of your template demo, a frame across the top and the template below. 2 questions:

      1. How did you set your main (lower) frame to show up within a subdirectory like demo.rockettheme.com/jan06/ ? Do you really have a separate installation for each template?

      2. Anything special about the top frame (just a form?)?

      3. If you allow access to the demo to showcase the editing features, how do you prevent permanent changes in the database?

      Cheers,
      V

    • actually i'm not sure how gpl'able it would be as i did start with phil's moslock component as a base. Also as i said, it really is a hack and i'm not very proud of the code.. actually 2checkout is much easier than paypal to implement, they have a much nicer api.

regrarding the demo site layout, yes i create a seperate site for every template.. easier that way.

    • Ok Ok, no worries. :)

I was thinking you might post only the hacks for moslock, but release the expiry component as GPL.

I don't know about the api, but i love 2Checkout in terms of its ease of use (especially compared to paypal), but it won't process donations :(

Thanks for the info on the demo site.

    • this is all useful info, but I have a question that I can't seem to see what must be an obvious answer, what if you want to have registered users, as well as paid-registered users (ie: paid access exclusive areas)

    • Hi Micah,

Scenario: you want to have a public part of your web site. You also want the public users to convert to registered users so they can make use of some extended features of the site. Finally, you want to have a premier paid member area only part of the site.

The only add-on to Joomla I have seen that can do this is JACL.:

      www.byostech.com/

It allows you to create new access groups and apply these groups to content and uers. If setup properly the the users assigned to the new group will have public access, registered access and Premier access to content on your site.

    • wow, thanks! I've been wondering this for a while, since Joomla seems to have all the usertypes predefined. I'm attempting to migrate from Drupal (and some others) where it's very easy to setup new usertypes. I guess I need to wait for the 1st March release!
