How the <beeeep> can you go "Well, can't do anything for JomSocial before it's GPL" and then release a template now, that uses Superblogger, which is ALSO not GPL?!?!?!!??!!?

There is no comparison between the two.

Jomsocial is where virtuemart was at a while back and wasn't even up for being considered for templating. Yet, everyone wanted a Virtuemart RT Template. The Team RT did the right thing and waited - hence Mynxx Virtuemart is a rock solid template.

Now, everyone wants a RT template product for Jomsocial - who is what? Still awhile from being complete and stable to have Team RT have to make a hack template for it?

Also, look at the price? Very limiting.

If the RT Team waits and does it right...then, hey, I give them THUMBS UP!

If they make a hack template for every component not ready. Why would I want to be a member of this template club?

Sorry, but I trust their judgment on this...so, any GPL or Not or any other argument seems moot at this time. Not that I am saying you can't express yourself. I am just expressing myself.

      Peace,
      Wingman

    • Wingman, templating in JomSocial is far more better done than any version of VM ever, however this is not the topic :)

The question is that JomSocial was considered as non-GPL = unfriendly and now there is another non-GPL (at least it appears to be like that) extension :)
But lets not be that demanding :) None promoted RT to be a place for JS templates, so we are still getting more than expected :)

For those of you willing to use JomSocial, I prepared a theme matching the blue style of Solar Sentinel, read in the topic:
      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=30&t=64170&rb_v=viewtopic

Probably if I have some time will prepare for the other styles as well. :)

P.S. I just like to hear myself rant.

    • How does K2 compare to Superblogger?
  • Re: Hmm...I wonder what the RocketTheme team has been up to?

    • It dunno. Same people though.

K2 is for content control. It basically makes all content as items that can be assigned permissions giving you better ACL control over said content. k2.joomlaworks.gr/ If you are familar with Drupal, then you will love the direction K2 is going.

On a similar note, I met Raphael from dioscouri.com (JUGA,AMBRA,BILLETS) at the JoomlaNYC meetup last week. They did the same thing with JUGA (soon to be no longer necessary) and their other components. Very great approach. Having everything as individual ITEMS that can then be assigned to users/groups is what we need. 1.6 is coming soon and I hope they do ACL better. Regardless, K2 and dioscouri's products are right on track and developed with 1.6 in mind.

I don't know about superblogger. Havent tried it and don't plan to either. Looks interesting for those internet socialites out there.

To me a blog is just an article. Maybe one day news articles will be called "poops" and we can admire all these poopers and super poopers. Then Tweets will be called Farts and so on and so forth. It seems the internet is suffering a severe case of "diarreah of the mouth" with all these tweets, blogs, pokes, and other apps that help me know things that nobody needs nor wants to know about most people. LOL. Sorry, my sense of humor is flawed. hehe.

Check out K2. Im convinced that is the way to go and plan on diving in deeper.
