Why?
Well, uh, the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar ends that day. So, certain people believe that is the end of the world.
Of course, these are the same people who look at twelve month calenders every year and think that is the end of the world too, because the last day is on Dec. 31st. They still haven't caught on to the concept that it is a cycle and the stone carving of the calender would of been way to heavy if they made an infinite calendar.
Wow, who knows, if their prediction is right and it is the end of the world - well, we have one thing to look forward too. It will be the end of, for sure, IE6, IE7, IE8 and possibly IE9 by then. See there is something positive in everything.
