For me, you are describing the perfect template. I'd like them to include some standard ad locations. Too many times, I find templates show ads, but they are standard sizes, ie. 728x90, 300x250. If you run ads, you run those.
I figure I'm so close to fine tuning my Versatility template, that RT will deliver my perfect template. Makes perfect sense. Get everything the way I want it with Versatility and now they'll tempt with me with a better option.

Oh, you're not alone. They are famous for doing that.
I ran across a guy on here that did just that, he had some Jackie Chan fan club or something like that, and pretty much implemented the new RT on it every single month..
