    • Just open up the files to the new gantry code and see the magic.
With the amount of man hours that go into each template you can't hire help that cheap for a year for the price of a dev membership...it is almost free!

Also the community here rocks.

    • Yep, agreed. If I ever feel a template just looks plain or similar I usually find the extras are under the bonnet. 8)

    • I thought Somaxiom was great. I have been building a Joomla site for a client and it's been nothing but pleasure to work with. Plus the new Gantry is out of this world.

    • The templates are great and the community is even better. The support in these forums is worth the price of membership. However, I do agree that it seems that the RT team seems to take a month off now and again. I have been around since '07 and its always been like that. This time of the month is always fun, but frequently disappointing. Every few months a truly fresh template is released that makes it worth the wait. I am not a fanboy that is going to post gushing brown-nosed crap in here, but I think that if you complain because you can't use what RT provides then you should look to yourself for the answer to your issues.

What does bother me is that I see a lot of effort here at RT that could be put to use making every month's release great. Things like gantry, wordpress, drupal, and this aggravating effort to brand the templates with RT and gantry in increasingly difficult to remove ways. These are templates and they should be editable. Maybe more effort into design and a little less trying to prove to the world that it came from RT and is "powered by gantry". Those of us developers that know how to use a template, create our own designs, make use of unique extensions and hack our own code are who made RT the success that it is. We have clients that we don't necessarily want to know that their site is a from a template. RT should respect that.

    • You can just turn off the branding via the template settings...
    • Please reply with a direct link to the issue & create a new thread for each new issue.

      Ahhh, the company line.

You know what I am talking about prim. One little radio button in the backend does not even come close to removing everything. How about:

      - The gantry admin back end
      - the css, all the classes that are tagged "rt"
      - the naming of js files
      - commenting in the index.php and other core files
... bah I am wasting my time.

I'll tell you what, why don't you create a tutorial that describes step-by-step, how to completely scrub all gantry and RT branding from a template (I do this for myself) and see how many views it gets.

Or better yet, try releasing two Rocket Launchers for a template. One branded and one completely generic and see which one get downloaded more.

I think we know the answer. All I am saying is why not take effort and man hours put into branding, which make our lives more difficult, and use it for... more frequent "great" templates.

    • I guess naming classes and ids with the prefix "rt" is essential for preventing overlapping namespaces with 3rd party stuff ...
When I analyze a css-issue it helps to to differentiate what comes from the template and what not ...

    • I think they should throw out the name of the July template just to tease us a bit...

It is fascinating watching the excitement around the end of the month. I'm a gamer and it's very similar to the feeling of a new game about to be released, but on here it happens every month!

As for the branding debate... I'm not a developer, but I certainly know that most people in the business world would have no clue what rt means and would never look inside any files either. They pay web developers for a reason, because they don't want anything to do with it themselves. I'm just learning the stuff and still feel like everytime I open a file I could be breaking something.

    • I see what Conan is saying about the branding if you are a developer, maybe RT should release a non branded one only for developers now and again. I am a normal member and have been for a few years and the sites I build are for me so the RT tags suit me down to the ground because when I have to change something that is broken normally because I have added what I shouldn't have, I can find it easy enough in the css.
Anyway we are into July here, release the beast :)
