    • Regarding your comments on logo/menu size etc, we of course build our templates to be very flexible. If you want the space to be smaller, it's just a matter of tweaking a few heights in the css file. Takes less than 2 minutes.

This is what I do with the logo in most of the Rocket Template I work with. This give you an idea of what is flexible for me.
1— I make a new module position (if not existing) and place that div to be free of the other structures inside the central page div.
This give me the ability to have multilingual logos/animation/whatever in a reachable custom module in the administration. Plus I can css this exactly where I want and z-index it how I want - I’m sure this simple addition will be appreciate by all template users. Now let’s do the rest like that...

This is the trend... exactly what you just said, "presents the information that I want." a very hard thing for sites to do.

That means NOTHING for design. A web site that is completely TEXT can present the information that I want. Weather.Com is not a particularly attractive web site.

im not saying it is amazing... but look at the before and after and tell me the difference isn't profoundly to the better.

The same can be said about "Bubblicious" and the current month's template. I must be missing the point. :)

Well... you kinda DID say it was amazing. You used words like "supreme" and said that they "get it". Lots of hyperbole was in your post. So much that I ran over to see what amazing changes had occurred on Weather.Com in the hour since I last visited. I saw the same site that I see every day. Nothing at all special about it.

If you have to look at the old site in order to be impressed by the new site, then that just means that the old site was really bad. It doesn't mean that the new site is good. Different designs appeal to different people. Most don't 'do it' for everybody.

    • Wait, you're getting off track. The new site is good and millions of people visit the site each day. The old site wasn't bad it was alright but the new site is a hell of a lot better. Furthermore, you'd be blind not to see the trends that are occurring and act accordingly.

I don't think anyone would want to be doing things "their own way" while the rest of the world is changing for the better.

Lastly, I will bring this point... The web for about 10 years has been settling into itself. Its sort of like the 80's and colors on clothes. Just because they figured out how to put bright ass colors on clothing didn't mean people should have actually wore that crap... but for a good 10 years they did. Now, everyone knows the 70's were better than the 80's but nevertheless the future of were we are now would not have existed without the experimentation and settling in of the "horrible 80's."

I truly believe web design is changing, it is getting simpler and more efficient for the user experience. And, in that light I do think the weather.com has made amazing changes for the better and I think many other sites will follow the trend.

      I'd put money on that.
