    • Great to see a solution at last. Typical that I just today bought JomComment. I think this was best anyway, as I don't think IntenseDebate works with MyBlog.

    • You need to follow the documentation for Intense Debate.

    • You may as well save you money and manually ping pingomatic, and use intensedebate. You can even use a rss feed on feedburner which will automatically ping the same services as myblog does when a new article is picked up on the feed.

    • @bookman,

I have used most of the J1.5! commenting systems that are available and I can say without a doubt that I prefer ChronoComments, for these reasons:

      1) It's Free, although I'm not opposed to paying for scripts when quality requires it.

      2) It's Supported like a paid extension, the response time is awesome and MAX and the other developers are keen when it comes to fixing problems or helping you customize it.

      3) You host it, unlike IntenseDebate, which speeds page load times, and eliminates possibility of another service being down, therefore rendering your comments null

      4) It is highly customizable - check this site here, where we turned it into a simply Prayer Center for a church site: thedaybreakchurch.com/prayer-center

      5) It's stable, the code is clean and easily modified for any site.

As for blogging, I would honestly look into the Zoo extension by YooTheme.. RT and YT are really the two main resources we use when it comes to extensions because they are stable, supported, the code is clean and easy to adjust if needed.. etc.. The Zoo component is a Content Creation Kit, which means you can make literally any template you want, create the fields that you want someone to enter for that template, and then the 'article' page has all the fields you want completed.. very slick. At this stage it does not handle Front-End submissions, or have many modules.. but I'd highly suggest you track it's development as when these are added, there's really no limit to what you can do with content on your site, especially when you also use RokCandy !!!! How sweet it is to RokCandy in the Zoo... :)

      Cheers

    • I agree with you on ChronoComments. All the ChronoEngine.com extensions are supported really well and operate really well too.

I am however really anxious to see this K2 component released...supposed to be any day now...

      http://k2.joomlaworks.gr/

It's supposed to go so far beyond anything else that's out there they say you won't want to use anything else. There's a downloadable Beta version to play with and you can install it with and without sample content.

Many many cool toys when it comes to Joomla!

    • Yeah... I've heard a lot of buzz around K2, and I see that RT has kinda taken the approach of 'endorsing' it within the demos.. etc.. but, so far.. after using the YooTheme Zoo component,. I'd have to see something pretty fantastic to want to switch. Granted, there's a bit of coding involved in making custom layouts.. but there is no end to what you can do with the data.. only down side so far is the lack of additional modules, which I hope they'll change soon..

    • It's a real shame that Mojo blog does not support 1.5. I've got it installed on my 1.0.15 fish site and I can't see much difference between this and WordPress. The only blog that I can find that does a similar job to WordPress is produced by corePHP, and that will cost you $89 for one user license. Mojo blog was completely free

Actually, yesterday I found a very basic blog that is very good if you just want to publish information. I don't think it gives you functions to actually interact with your visitors.
