Thanks for jumping on board.
Please come back again with advice!
Indeed you are so right that MTree
is seriously lacking a manual.
CY and Alex are great coders for sure,
but no teachers by a long shot.
But I do not hold that against them.
Sometimes, when you start out
you have no idea what is happening
Take the custom fields
You type in a name;
You enter;
Message: succesfully updated,
but on-screen nothing seem sto have changed.
I bought it mostly because Andy
was very positive about the component
and what Debra Stokes/L.Chris wrote here
However difficult it is for a pub* like me, I am very satisfied with my purchase.
The necessity to change the is a good learning experience, but I agree
that doing that detracts me from the real work and
that is populating MTree with info.
I only wished that they were more
forumsensitive, just like Andy.
If you read the posts of Debra Stokes/L.Chris
you will notice that waiting for answer from support
could take up to sixteen days.
Therefore I would like to add here my experiences
I asked a question and Alex responded in 2 days.
After that I asked another question and CY (lead developer)
responded within 24 hours.
A follow-up question to that last one,
got me an answer from Alex
again within 2 days.
Mind you, this is not meant to say that Debra is wrong,
but to add extra info and sorta get some balance
for future/potential buyers of Mosets Tree.
Working with the component is
still an interesting experience
Wished only that I had more time
and that they could produce a manual.
Thàt would réálly fastforward things.
That may be the direction that Joomla development may take us. To pay for the best. Nothing greedy about that.
It's 'free' open source, but you should feel comfortable to charge for a good, stable component that will operate solidly out of the box. But then, who wants to sort through the legal liabilities? I know that if there was a collection of STABLE componants and modules, I'd be buying them - if they were cost efficient.
The closest seems to be the 'Extensions' section on the Joomla.org site.
