    Suggestion for RocketTheme.com website!

Posted 15 years 11 months ago
    • First let me say I have been a subscriber for a couple of years now and I'm very satisfied with the quality of templates from RocketTheme.com. I do have a question though.

At times I am in need of a template with a specific set of features. I searched but could not find an easy way to display a filtered list of results for templates with features I am in need of.

For instance, if I needed a template that supports "Fluid Width" or one that has a "Color Chooser Component", it would be nice if there was a filter or search that one could use to filter the results that they are looking for. As of now you have to look through the detailed description of each template to find the ones that have the specific criteria needed plus there is no way of comparing features with each other.

Is it possible some thought could be given to looking into a way to either "compare" or search for specific template features? It would not only make this site unique among other template competitors but also a step above.

Thanks and keep up the good work,
      Mark

    • Hi Kat
I actually have the same problem in finding a list of templates that support the "fluid" width setting.
Hope you can include this info soon in the demo-part of your templates.
      Thank you.
      Tom

    • Well settings like Fluid Width are essentially redundant. You can add it to any of our templates by adding the following to template.css
      div.wrapper { width: 100% !important;}

    • Thank you for the reply on the fluid width issue, but please keep in mind that was only an example. The original post was regarding a way to sort or search through all templates in an easier fashion than just reading the details one at a time.

      Thanks for your time,
      Mark

    • This idea is very interesting. And i would like to add an idea i had a couple of weeks ago, wich would be create "Hacking guides".This idea came when after solving many issues related to hacking especific parts of the template(eg.rokcontentrotator),i foud myself with many posts about this topic and those were related to "hacking" the template, not a bug. Then i tough, why not create a hacking guide of the rokcontentrotator, with all links to my [SOLVED] posts in one post only(the hacking guide)?Since i've seen the same question repeating over, and over,over....again.Everyone could do that with their own posts...What you guys think? It would be nice added with a "internal search friendly"(ISF*) as posted in the beginning of the thread :P .the power of this forum is amazing, especially if you consider the quantity of posts already solved.
*note that ISF is a term created on the fly, lol.

    • hi guys,

what you were asking for in the initial post is a great idea. it will take a lot of work, but be assured that we will be working hard to make this happen one day, since we all believe it will be very helpful to everyone.

gabriel, you're more than welcome to create a new thread which is a collection of links to certain solved threads regarding the same extension etc (e.g. rokcontentrotator).
for sure it will be very helpful to other rocketeers and we always encourage members to help eachother out around here. :D

    • Just throwing this out there, but are you sure you want fluid width? This trend has been decreasing more and more over the years, and frankly it's very hard to create a good looking website with a fluid width design. It really limits your layout as you have to support the browser resizing, and the results are often very ugly (at minimum and maximum extremes). Also fluid width was popular in the days of 640x480 and 800x600 because it allowed the maximum use of real estate, however these days, resolutions are generally much higher, and you don't wan the browser to fill the page. A design that fits in 1024x768 fixed is fine for all users. If this requirement is coming from your client, I strongly suggest trying to urge them towards a fixed width design.
