    • I am new to creating websites. Can I download, unzip and edit (create) my new website on my MacBook Pro and then publish (upload it/go live) it?

You need to have Joomla installed as well Ted (sorry if you know this, just covering all bases since you say you're new to creating sites). The template is a template for the Joomla CMS, so install that and then upload your template to your Joomla template directory and you'll have your starting point to go live.

    • The answer is yes Ted. You will need to install something like MAMP ( www.mamp.info/en/index.php ) to give you a nice clean apache/php/mysql solution for your mac. Then you'll need to install joomla. At that point you have a fully functionaly joomla website running on your mac. Then when your ready, you can zip up your template and just copy it over to your production site.

    • Thanks guys for the help. Bill, I am trying to download Joomla but it will not download. It hangs like its waiting for something (with a blank screen). Again, I am on a Mac. Is that why I'm having trouble with all of this? Suggestions?

    • Yves, Bill,
Thank you for the link. That worked to upload Joomla! I now have a file on my desktop called Joomla_1_1 I cannot seem to find a way to "install" the program. I should see an icon in my apps if I have it downloaded right? It's not there. I have all of these files in the folder but non of them will "install".
Also, I have the "GoLive" icon on everything in the folder. It seems that when I downloaded the Joomla! application, my system tagged evertything to associate it with GoLive.
In GoLive, it has a php statement that pulls up and gives instructions as to having and installing 3 programs in order to run Joomla! Now, do I have to follow all of the instructions that it pulled up with it about the 3 programs etc?

Sorry this is such a pain. It seems like something is just not loading up the right way (?). Ted
