    • I asked that, Ben, because my JomSocial / Joomla / PhpBB3 / Rokbridge - setup was working perfectly until I upgraded to Jomsocial 1.6 -
I didn't think it was Theme related, as the error happens when I try to 'login' to the phpbb3.
Uninstall Jomsocial and the error vanishes (but so does access to Jomsocial)

Again, I only brought it here because I saw the words "Jomsocial 1.6" and "not compatible" - and this was in the General Discussion section (I thought pertained to all of RT, including Rokbridge). And didn't know it was 'Theme Specific' to Affinity.

I'm wondering if you have upgraded to 1.6 and 'if' perhaps even the Affinity Template does this?
If you say, "No" (but yes to the upgrade), I'll be asking what is different in the two Themes.

      Thanks again Ben,

    • Yes, indeed. It has something to do with JomSocial extension and their encoding.

    • I wouldn't jump too quickly into 1.6, there are still quite a lot of bugs being reported on their forums.

    • I got pretty tired of JomSocial and didn't renew my subscriptions. They just change too much stuff with every update and they regularly include things that conflict and then have to patch later.

It is going to be tough for the team to troubleshoot JomSocial issues here as we don't have a copy that we can use. Just a heads up there in case you don't get answers to some issues involving JomSocial.

    • Thank you Ben,
I really didn't mean to hijack this thread, and I hope I'm forgiven.
The changes that may have been made to Affinity to accomodate Jomsocial, potentially benefits the many themes created after it. I use the com_community from Affinity in Dominion - so far, I haven't found a better looking Jomsocial template.
Like you, I'll probably tire of JS and whatever version I have working properly will be, for me, the final version I'll dink with. There are so many other, more fun things to do with Joomla. If people want a more "Facebook look" they can sign up for... uh, uh.. Dang,I forget the name, oh yeah!.. Facebook!

NO KIDDING! - We're pretty fed up with Azrul as a whole at this point. You can almost do as much as you want with NING.

To the other fellow.. there's a fix on JomSocials website for the bridged version. Several of us got a little angry yesterday at their lack of acknowledgment after almost a week and they got busy.

Since I can't attach the file, here is the link.

    • The "other fellow" says thank you for pointing that out Joe..
Yes, the great, Jomsocial snafu has been resolved, how? by changing a Jomsocial file.. what else!
They lost a few points with me when they tried to blame, "The problem" on Joomla, >gasp!<

That's clearly something I've never seen here at RT.. The difference, "These" blokes take responsiblity for their gaffs and flaws.. JS dudes.. eh!.. not on a dare! My opinion of course, not to be confused with any legitimate view supported by this site..

Joe, that NING stuff, "An online service to create, customize, and share a social network." doesn't appear to be in open code so a person could alter to suit their site.. Hence, much different than Jomsocial. or a product like them. (trust me, I'm in the market for a 'better' solution)..

I'm glad they 'fixed' the problem, sad they blamed it on Joomla, glad they didn't blame it on RT...

      Case dismissed! well, almost..

to avoid the 'argument' the site in question, "locked" the thread for further comment.. Thats the way to win an argument eh?

    • No it's not. The only thing "open" is it's design aspects, but you have to stick with whatever modules and apps they have. The point is... Ning is approaching it as a SAAS so integration issues and dependencies aren't a worry. Still not sure I totally like that approach but it is what it is. It may work for some people, but I know for me it wouldn't work on at least 2 of my client sites. Too many other things integrated.

    • Which themes of RT for joomla are compatible with JomSocial? Is the Moxy theme compatible with JomSocial?
