You could base the judging on points rather than the template or votes. Stuff like 'how well did the person modify the CSS?' etc.

How bout making a real nice incentive too, that the winner could be chosen to submit a site that would feature as a RT theme template, and maybe even get a cut (lol) ok maybe a bit too much...
Even better how an award that goes beyog just recognition like a life time honor membership to the annual winner each year... A small price to pay really! But this would serve the community as a whole as winning a life membership would increase the appeal of being apart of the RT community, knowing that the annual winners would stick around (making full use of their prize) thus sharing their experience and expertise with future members of the RT community!
A monthly award would be cool too... Or each month there could be an award given on different aspects as already mentioned.
Like Jan - Best Graphic pimp, Feb Best css mod - March, Best componant intergration....this would be cool and too serve a purpose greater than recognition and that be that their Mod etc could be made available for all members.
My ideas are sure rough and need tweaking but a brainstorm never the less! - Don't think, Feeeeel... It is like a finger pointing to the moon. (slap) Don't concentrate on the finger or you'll miss all that heavenly glory.

I the spirit of this whole "pimp" thing, I believe that the RT admin and staff should be forced to wear a hat much like the one attached to the post at all times.

Roland, you have a quirky sense of humor. I LOVE IT!
Reminds me of a comedy that I'm writing. It's about a street bum who turns pimped out and zoot suited. This guy thinks he's somebody and tells these big whopping lies. Some of the one liners are as follows:
"Where did I come from? Why, I'm the love child of James Brown and Marvin Gay!"
"I'm spiritual too! I taught the Dali Lama's young ass! (off camera: 'But he's old.') He's old? It's a clonin' thang, you wouldn't understand! There were five of 'em!
"You like my dancin' huh? I taught Britney Spears and Michael Jackson everything they knows (the 's' is intentional) and choreographed the folks at Riverdance! Although, I don't like little boys."
"Who taught me Kunk-Fu? I think it was Jet Li. He taught me how to move real fast and throw motorcycles. Plus, I traveled to another dimension and trained with Bruce Lee - Elvis was there too!"

damo, I want to apologize for my fellow RT buds who just can't seem to contain themselves. They pick on me mercilessly. Now that they have had their good laugh - at my expense, let's get on with the discussion about how best to give awards.
There are a few great ideas already, but some people have to release that bottled up exuberance and crack a funny. See how cool RT Templates make folks? Instead of wringing their hands over a template that won't behave, they now have time to bounce off the walls. That's just how productive RT Templates make you!
Anyway, it would be nice to hear more ideas from the RT folks. Thanks, damo, for organizing this effort! Maybe the peanut gallery will behave.

i think more ideas will come and some of the already suggested are very good ...
i'm going to see about having daves name changed 'The Pimp' or 'Pimp Dave' in the meantime ...
just so everyone is in the picture this is going to get discussed fairly soon in the future and it may lead to some of these ideas or it may be that we come back with another format fo you guys to talk about ... but the monthly was getting a bit much and if this or something like this is to continue the input of everyone should be included ...
