    • Nice site and nice theme. Here are my thoughts; (only critic cause that is what makes a page better, get me right it is a good page!)

      I agree with Ben on the pictures. There are some things not OK on this in my opinion;

      You want to attract women also (as is in your mail ) so;
      - I wouldn't like an M which is looking as two sharks. Its not because of Ben's comment but it were my thoughts too ( you can still try to convince the owner saying that some people say this independently. This is the logo of a shark fishing company!
      - It's pure psychology but I don't like a boat "sinking" in the blue water. Suggest you do something with the submitlogo an compass, make the angle less and put the corner above the blue section maybe with shadow or something to create more depth.

      I also had difficulties to get back to the main page but I guess that's still to do (and you still have to change the logo right ;) )

      Hope for you, you can change the logo. Good luck

      Maico

    • Thanks Maico! The logo is the BIG one right now, IMO. I hadn't thought about the sharks thing. That is a good point to make...

    • Not a bad site but for readability i have to diss the middle part. This part with black text on this kind of blue background will make many cry due to the lack of contrast. Always remember to test your sites that has text blocks in black/white mode :)

    • Thanks, Per for your thoughts. The blue was again a client choice... If this were a site I made for myself, many things would be different (although the overall structure/look would be the same.

      They were less interested in the descriptions than the links, and I wanted to descriptions. This was our compromise. They did not want the descriptions i white like the links,a nd other shades of blue or grey looked just plain bad.

    • To offset the boat that looks like it is about to slide onto the rest of the page - (just a suggestion) add in handwriting "Wish You Were here" it would give it a post card look and make it more inviting and fun.

      I think the background picture throws the whole site off. As there is no transparency of the template, the image almost seems distracting instead of complimentary. Post card or Polaroid pictures of various images stacked at angles around the sides would make a more vivid statement and would allow for a lot more exposure of what the site is about - plus it could show fun and excitement... But then again - just suggestions.

      The logo has an unfinished look to it...like when a company does a start up and they hand draw their own logo, invite all their friends over for the grand opening and celebrate...saying "look what we've done" with big gleeful smiles. (Flash Forward Five Years) now they are a large company and have a huge presence, but they still have the same hand drawn logo originally designed on a cocktail napkin from back when this was only a twinkle in their eyes. ::) :P

      Other than that the site pretty much gives the info needed...it is not going to have the glamor of some of your other projects but it has a purpose and if you can fulfill that - you've done good. So, good work.

    • Thanks for your notes, William...

      Did you get my message? I misplaced your phone #, so I couldn't call you back, and I did not hear back from you.

    • Unfortunately nope or I would of got right back to you :( ...then I got busy and figured you were too :P Also, I picked up 7 new non-profits and have 13 in discussion. :D (whooo whooo - I've waited a long time for this project to finally take off - I plan on taking on every city in the US, one at a time. I have to share with you the breakdown of that project - I think you would find it interesting)

      I looked at the marine site on my wide screen and that is where I got the impression that the background image throws off the site...it is not as noticeable on a standard screen. Also, I know you have no control over the Logo from what I read.

      I do agree with the rest of them and will say this - the best part of this new site you are showing off is your new picture. :o ::) :P

      I hit you up later...good luck on the site...

    • Heather,
      I enjoy seeing the occasional modification of templates, but I ALWAYS look forward to one of yours. I don't know you but I feel that you offer a bit of your personality in every design that you share with us. So often, the templates we see are so similar in approach, all having that male/techie look and feel... but you always bring something fresh, clean, colorful and from a female perspective. I can tell from many of your past renditions, that you enjoy your work very much.

      I only have a couple of suggestions. As minor as they are, I believe this tweak brings the Content into more focus and importance over the background image.

      See attached image:

      #1 - I added an saturation adjustment of -37. This, in my opinion allows the colorful foreground to have more "pop," as before I thought it was a little lost in the background image that was busy and had alot going on.

      #2 - I added a gausian blur of 2.0. This also, as stated above, gave your foreground (content) a little more focus and precedence over the background.

      And I agree... nice new photo!
