WidgetWorld Dashboard Widgets - Populus

    • Hi All,

I have based the website on the latest Populus RocketTheme. Clearly the makers have based this theme on the latest Apple.com design which I like very much. I gave it yet another twist to give Apple Dashboard Widgets enthusiasts a feeling of recognition when entering the website for Apple's Dashboard Widgets.

Please have a look here: http://www.widgetworld.nl

Basically i have removed the banner and messed around with colour-theme 4 of the populus style.

This website ran with a lot of extra components, but through the populus theme I was able to remove many 3rd party components.

The 3rd party components used are:

      Community Builder
      FireBoard

All comments are welcome, also negative ones please, since they can help me finetune the website.

Strange look with collapsed header, but interesting.

Compare it with: http://www.apple.com it will most likely become obvious where the RocketTheme developers got the inspiritation from.

    • I was more referring to the menu style, grays etc that is in the default Populus by RocketTheme. I did not change that.

Thank you for the kind words!

When you 'collapse' the header, be aware that you will need to do some editing in the source png files for the sole menu to show properly!

      Edited*

When just collapsing the header, the menus will show a tiny black part of the header which you don't want.

You will need to edit the following files to have a proper showing menu only:
      • populus-menus.png
      • populus-structure.png

    • Piet, I really like your site. It's a very good idea to remove the header. Your website looks very professional. It give me inspiration for a future project, maybe.

      Congrats.

    • The fact that you removed the header is cool... but you don't even have a logo for your site, which is a bit weird...
