      Good question!

      My addiction (besides RTTC I mean)>>> www.americasarmy.com ( download it here )

Best FREE first person shooter, multi-player game EVER. I've played this for over 4 years, 3+ of which on 56K dialup :o and another year on broadband over many versions of the game. AA is updated regularly and there is a complete new version being built as we speak based on a newer engine.
This is a simulation, not an arcade type game such as the Battlefield series of games (which are great too, in their own way).
If ya'll think that you get the shakes at RTTC towards the end of the month (New template!), just wait until all of the players on your team is dead and you are the last man versus many enemies... very intense!

AA requires a fairly high-end PC to get high frame rates and every player should tweak their game and pc.

There are older versions of AA for Mac and Linux, however support has been discontinued for both to the best of my knowledge.

There is a great website that tracks stats for AA, it is aaotracker.com . Lot's of tips and help in the forums there.

If anyone ever needs help with AA, feel free to PM me.

For those whom prefer a single player RPG, I highly recommend The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion. Great, great fun and awesome bang for the buck as the game world is huuuuuge. This game really requires a lot of horsepower, but if you have it are you in for a visual treat! Amazing graphics.

      Cheers!

    • When will you pc online gamers learn! Console Online gaming is far better. Id like to see you have a better time on your PCs in a cramped desk somewhere over my extremely comfy sofa, wireless controller/remote, headset and Widescreen TV and a lovely double chocolate chip muffin to my right. Id like to see you try and do that at your PC ;D

Ever tried Halo 2 on the Xbox *Online* - Once you pop, you cant stop ;D

Wireless trackball, wireless keyboard, wireless NIC and a connection to a 42" plasma tv, console gaming has got nothing on that! ;)
Having said that, I prefer gaming on my 19" monitor.

I was a console gamer starting with Pong... honestly! I bought many a system in my time! Once I got into computers and computer gaming, I found that a mouse and keyboard provided much better control over games than a gamepad and is much easier on my wrists/ hands. I have a joystick for flying games, but truth be told, I prefer flying with my trackball, my buddy thinks that I am nuts, lol.

Just my personal preferences and observations.

How did I know that you would work muffins into this James? :D

      Happy gaming!

    • Flying games make me very very very angry....they just do not seem to work ;D

A larger screen is certainly important in online FPS, youd be surprised what little critters, you see in the corner of your screen :D

The only games that i ever would play would be strategy based games like the Age of Empires Series, truely magnificient ;D

    • My 61" Samsung 1080p DLP has HDMI and VGA inputs. While my laptop won't play the high end games anymore, I have hooked it up and played RPGs like WoW and they are stunning. If I hooked a wireless KB + mouse I could play from my recliner in my leather sofa. But, rather than going through all that I just come upstairs and play on my gaming rig anyways. Besides, I use TeamSpeak to chat with my friends I am playing with.

Btw (completely unrelated note) - the Asus website was offering up more than information recently... it was infecting users (that were vulnerable) the .ani virus (animated cursor)!I believe that the site is cleaned up now.

I noticed that. My corporate edition of Symantic caught it.

I'm not much of a gamer, I just like really good graphics.

Occasionally I play CounterStrike 1.6, but I just downloaded Source to try on this machine.

Also, I wanted my experience to be as good as it could be for Second Life.

A;so, again, I am starting to do more with Verizon Online's gaming network and needed a speedy machince to develop content.
