When will you pc online gamers learn! Console Online gaming is far better. Id like to see you have a better time on your PCs in a cramped desk somewhere over my extremely comfy sofa, wireless controller/remote, headset and Widescreen TV and a lovely double chocolate chip muffin to my right. Id like to see you try and do that at your PC ;D

Ever tried Halo 2 on the Xbox *Online* - Once you pop, you cant stop ;D

Well, there's hundreds on thousands of dollars in prize money for PC gaming and just a little for consoles. More folks to pony up with cash for their board, ram, hard drive, etc.

Also, there seems to be more flexibility with a mouse and keyboard rather than a controller.

Again, I'm not a gamer, but that seems to be the buzz in the gaming community.

Eventhough they are both gaming, they are almost completely separate markets. I find that consoles are more focused towards 'families' and children and the average joe.

    • I bought used parts from Ebay and pricewatch to assemble this beast:

Dual Xeon Processor, 3.2 Ghz HT workstation with 6GB of Rambus (Yeah I know Rambus price blows, and 800Mhz Bus DDR equivalent is available, but this is what came with the mobo, and the RAM really is awesome. :-).

Hard Drive configuration is really the heart of the machine. (1) 18 GB 15K U320 SCSI cheetah with W2K, XP, and Red Hat, installed. One 73GB 10K SCSI U320 with all relevant software (Photoshop has an almost instant load (about 2-3 secs.), and then two 250 GB Plain old IDE Drives as storage.

All peripherals are run from the SCSI controller, as well.

My a video came out of another machinea 2 year old GFX 4 video card, and I haven't had an issue yet with games running at maximum polygons, shading, depth, etc.

It doesn't have the bells and whistles of a lot of the newer machines, but I can do Hi Resolution 3D renders, or video outputs and still have gobs of resources left to work on other graphic design projects. And, all in all, since I assembled the machine with used parts, I spent less than $1,000 on the whole thing.

In another thread I mentioned that I have a complete SCSI environment running Windows, which means my machine runs like a Mac and crashes like a PC.

    • I got Intel dual core 3gig proccessor i cant remember if its the 830 or the 860 though. wow thats bad
      dual 7800GTX running in SLI
2 GB of Ram extra low latency i think it was the fastest RAM available at the time.
its been a year so its hard to remember at times.
and 1.37 TB of HD storage
      dual 500gb, 120gb and a 250gb
dual DVD writers 1 with that asenine lightscribe (which i say because i can never find discs for it when i remember them) and a regular burner and a CD burner. the 2nd DVD burner added later is why i have three optical drives.
A complete beast of a cooling system this thing weighs like 80 pounds. But it's quiet and fast

g7 cordless mouse had to have that because of the battery option, i think it's best thing on the market if you were to ask me. battery recharges totally tick me off cause they always happen when you need them the most and im terrible about charging when im not using it.

Saitek keyboard (save your money they do nothign neat but glow)

Prey full resolution maxxed out runs like a champ
      same with FEAR
ut2k4 (favorite game ever) it's amazing the difference thsi made over my athlon 2200 lol

wanted to get a athlon but i did some looking and found out that for the things that pay the bills Intel was better. Its a better multi tasker and bigger progs like photoshop and are designed to run off Intel chips (i dont knwo why that makes sense but it was on several major tech sites so i went with it).

oh yeah and a 21" widescreen monitor that i absolutley adore because its got four input options so i can run two computers on the one monitor which makes no sense unless your rendering or something on PC1 and while thats going your playing on the pc2.
