New host - Rochen Reseller - A No Brainer?

    • Host Gator have a nice re-seller option as well
I have had some pretty good experiences with them on a reseller plan. A few hiccups from time to time but always had good support. Never had a problem with ownership etc. (just adding 2 cents)
Another 2 cents: If you have a site that generates LOTS of traffic, shared hosting may not be for you..... ;)

    • There are certainly enough of us with reseller accounts and VPS that we could carve up a full server.

Maybe if RHUKHOST.com ever comes into being.

    • I host with Rochen, and, in general, I have been extremely happy.

I have three nits with Rochen:

      1. No hosting of any chat service that uses server resources. This even applies to live help, and no exceptions are made. I understand the reasoning, but I have had to retain my old hosting company for this sole purpose, and that is a tad annoying.

      2. Billing - Although the billing is supposed to recur monthly on the day that my account was created, it is tending to happen about 11 days later, on the average. Later is better than earlier, but I really like more precision on that front, as I use a card for all Internet stuff that I don't keep much money on, and now I have to keep an extra 30 bucks on it, just because I don't know when Rochen will bill for it.

      3. Support - Brad is awesome, but someone else, who I won't name, made an assumption of user error on a ticket that I opened, and was a bit snippy with me, blaming my code, and all sorts of other things. When I presented undeniable evidence, the issue went away, but I got no further communication.

The file permissions has not been a problem for me, if I install via the back-end I use JoomlaXplorer to change the permissions as needed. For templates, and other things that I need a lot of access to, I have generally just started using FTP.
