    • Here are the two examples that I made in FW 4 using the colors that you specified pal, exported as 24bit .png.

[highjack]Also attached is an image that I created that shows my current method of moving and rotating a gradient in Fireworks - my question to you all is, is there an easier way to rotate a gradient in 45 - 90 degree increments?[/highjack]

      Cheers!

    • I can't remember offhand, but when you go on the export wizard, can't you change the amount of colours from adaptive or whatever to exact?

      That might stop the banding...

      you can't change this with 24bit png's, only 8bit

    • Roland yes there is an easier way to rotate the gradient. goto transform>rotate the who image will rotate but so to the gradient will rotate then just resize.

Try making the gradient at a higher resolution (300dpi) then down sampling or adding a blur to the gradient (you'll have to flatten the image though.)

As blogs also mentioned - Go to your export settings, try a few things like increasing the color count, and dropping all compression. To get rid of all banding you need to cover allot of shades!!! which means increased file size. :(

    • NP... :)

Heard from a print man that vector + gradients in general is crap - dark colors even more..
So I will leave it there - seems im just seeing what everyone else is seeing.
