well you can .. on our new super shnizle quake3 server. Why quake3? Well it's old, and runs great on almost any OS (windows, mac, linux), you don't have to be a brain surgeon to play, you just round around and shoot stuff, and lastly because you can play for a few mins and have fun without blowing your whole day.
Ok, here's how you join the fun. Hopefully you already have a copy of quake3 or can find one of a buddy/friend/internet. Download this opensource version of the engine as it's nicely patched and an intel binary for us mac folks:

Then you'll need to find th pak0.pk3 from your install cd/buddy/friend/internet. Copy that into the baseq3/ folder. Then download the OSP maps:
www.sunflow.com/orangesmoothie/downloads...-1.03a-just_maps.zip
extract that and drop the resulting osp/ folder in your quake3 folder next to your baseq3/ folder.
That's it, your ready to join the fun:
just join the server q3.rhuk.net, port is default - 27960

OMG Indeed!
Quake3 InstaGib CTF was MY thing a few years ago .. If i recally correctly OSP allows you to setup Instagib(rail-only) .. that rocks...
but Andy ..
What are you doing playing Quake III .. dont you have some Themes to get ready???? ;D Get back to work!!!! ..
I`m kidding Andy .. Q3 is a great way to blow .. steam.. =) Have fun .. i`d join you but i have to finish a theme.. hehe.. - Radiorockcafe, We just ROCK! .. Commercial free since 2008!

Funny you mention that as we were playing instagib this very evening. And yes, sometimes even us RT folk need to take a break from the grind.

I gotta tell you Andy,
I completely understand your point when you mention you need to blow some steam .. I feel the same way when i get off work.. but that being said..
You haven`t played Quake3 until you`ve tried Q3 Instagib OSP CTF .. Imagine running around in Q3CTF1 with 5-6 guyz from the other team trying to prevent you from capturing the flag.. Insta is awesome in DM .. but it`s totally WILD in CTF. YAWW!!!
Here are a few tips ....
1- Don`t use ANY of the launchpads(unless it`s the only option to get you to the flag in CTF mode) .. if you`re playing against people that know how to rail.. you`ll be on the receiving end of a skeet shooting practive.. ROFL!
2- When fighting against someone .. don`t jump around.. people have a nasty tendency of jumping around.. but .. when you do that.. you don`t have control over your character while he`s off the ground .. so you get to be yet another time .. on the receiving end of a skeet shooting practive..
Like i said, as soon as im done with this fireboard template i`m trying to do for Replicant, ill try and hop in with you guyz.

Yea! I like CSS, I just got it again after I left it few months ago cause is very addictive - It's a dog eat dog world, and by golly, we better make sure we're the dog.
