    • I guess not, here is a better analogy

It's like selling someone a piece of DIY assembly furniture, complete with an instruction book, and then taking away that instruction book once they furniture is assembled. Should the OWNER of that furniture want to dis-assemble and then re-assemble for any given reason, he would be a bit lost unless he has photographic memory.

Its the same with the subscriptions. I'm not saying past members should have access to the live/recent forums, but at the very least they should have access to the forums they participated in.

Everyone needs to make money, I'm not making a fuss here expecting free unlimited support forever, however the current set up does not sit well with me, and I am sure I am not alone in this thought. It also does not bode well for a renewal subscription.

    • That comparison doesnt work for me too.
The docs of the template are free to access.

In the web many of the issues come from updated browsers or user errors.
How does that compare to furniture?

    • It wouldn't work for you, your mind is set where it is and you refuse to see the other side of the coin.

Saying that the template docs are free is absurd, why do you even offer support if you think that those docs will solve everything? Your assessment that many issues comes updated browsers and user errors is also very far from the truth. There have been many a bugs and other quirks discovered on these forums.

In my case, I have used the same template on a new project and ran into the same issues I had with my first project, and needed to refer back to the help I had received in solving that problem. DO you think it's fair to expect someone to pay AGAIN to see the solution to a problem already solved? What 'work' or time would such an action cost you as a support person? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, so how can you expect to receive money for it?

I rest my case, I certainly will not be renewing any subscriptions while the current membership format is in place and certainly will not encourage anyone else to do the same.

    • As far as I know you have this issue with all template clubs out there.
They all have more or less the same business concept (actually almost all inspired by RT wich was one of first in this area).
As Kat mentioned there will be some changes in the next Rockettheme-site.
Don't believe that its technically a small thing to do ... the entire dev team is working on it for more than a year now. It's nothing you can change easily.
Of course I understand your point of view.
But after having done more than 20.000 posts here in the forum I can say there are not so many bugs. But of course there are bugs ... no doubt here.

But overall we try to improve things ... that's why the RTv3 thing was started: To have a better experience for the members ... that's all that we are about: the devs and mods that provide support in our free time. We are not a greedy and stingy bunch of people.

I hope you check out the new site when it's ready.

[NOTE by myself after this was closed: Of course "As far as I know you have ..." wasn't meant personally .... I meant in "general"! My english skills aren't the best and so this entire thread is about a misunderstanding because of my wrong choice of words. I'm really sorry for that.]

    • As far as you know? How would you know? What have you seen? Please don't talk rubbish, that's nothing short of slander and I will not stand for it. Show hard facts or else keep your mouth shout. RT is in the ONLY such membership club I have joined, and since your most recent comments, also the last. You specifically have easily been the least helpful of all the mods and it is not surprise you are here responding to this thread.

Goodbye, you/RocketTheme will not receive the pleasure of any more responses from me at this forum.

    • I'm(or was) a paying member of ... Yootheme, Gavick, Nueevo, RS and a few others so guess I know what I'm talking about. I'm running my own design business.
I'm sorry that you have that impression of my work here in the forum personally.

    • Hi there,

Whilst I can understand the frustration of not being able to access information that you could do previously, I also recognise that many long-term, paid up members would see that as being unfair to them. So at the moment we have a lose/lose situation.

As Kat posted about our developments at RT we are trying to create a win/win option because that is how we like to be with our members. 8)

I also belong to other clubs and I learned a long time ago (for exactly the reasons you cited) that when I get a forum response to a question I just did a screen grab and saved it with the client files. Now this proved invaluable on a couple of occassions because I could refer back to the information in emergencies. In one case I had to use it as proof that I had raised a problem and the answer received was as I had said. The screenshot saved me a whole heap of trouble.

I realise that this is a great solution in hindsight and doesn't help you now. But I am happy, as a ONE OFF, to go check the forum for your relevant post and provide the content of the answer. Just let me know which template.

Your comments about my colleague Henning....Creating Solutions wrote:

...I am sure were made out of frustration as Henning is one of our most helpful and experienced moderators. The fact that he does belong to other clubs helps us to benchmark our services against others. If you look at the thousands of posts we deal with each month you will see that the majority are asking for assistance with customisation rather than actual bugs. A lot of the other clubs will not even respond to those sorts of requests.

All in all we do a good job in a challenging environment. I am sure that had you not have felt frustrated you would not have been so critical about Henning and wouldn't have responded with the above post.

I look forward to seeing you around in the new forums with your lifetime purchases. 8)

    • I said I would not make another post here, but I am making an exception because I cannot tolerate utter rubbish.

Henning - thanx for the heads up, love the other theme websites and will use them as alternatives. You obviously have never seen me on ANY of those sites, so my assertion stands - you are slandering. Don't stoop that low, use some common sense, if you have any among all that technical know-how in your head.

David - appreciate that you are coming here to try help and offer solutions, however I need full access to all my previous posts - I must have made almost a dozen and to ask you to go back and reference them is just not going to work, but as I say - thank you, I wish the rest of the mods here were half as willing as you are to go the extra mile. The fact that you suggest screenshots is proof that you don't agree with the rules here either.

I meant everything I said about Henning, it was not said in frustration, it was said in truth. When I first joined and needed direction he was easily the shortest and least helpful. Almost every other mod was almost as a rule, much more helpful. I'm pretty sure Henning is one of the more knowledgeable mods here, but that certainly doesn't automatically qualify him as a good support person. One just has to see how he has resorted to attacking my person here with crap about "As far as I know you have this issue with all template clubs out there." which is utter rubbish and I challenge him or anyone else here to produce some facts or examples to back up that slander.

So long RocketTheme guys, pity one rotten apple has ruined the rest here, but thanx for the heads up on the other guys, Yootheme looks great!!

I think you are taking the comment too literally  Henning's native language is German but his English is a million times better than my German. :cheesy:

When he says "..I know you have this issue.." he wasn't meaning you as an individual. He was pointing out that most template clubs have the same process. Regardless of which one you join, when your membership expires, then so does your access to posts.

I also had YooTheme membership for a while and when it expired I couldn't access my posts either so remember the screenshot tip.

Good luck in your new endeavours.

    • In order to prevent this attack on Henning escalating further I am now closing this thread.

As a reminder to all members when posting please keep the posts civil, relevant and give us enough information to try and help. Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

We like to think we are fair with our replies and we rarely delete posts because we feel we have nothing to hide. As a template club we are very lucky to have a proactive and helpful community and this is one of the reasons members keep coming back. 8)
