    • for peer 2 peer freelancing work i always just run locally then update on a live domain so they can see, but for more serious work, i always find it easy if its possible to get head to head, provide a few sample designs, may be in the form of source png files, make changes as you discuss, then dive into it, in the end, upload, show them then move to live, the only propblem is using thesame old domain and moving things round on the server which i find not so good

    • If it's a local gig I mock everything up on my laptop using LAMP server and just show them/ make changes etc. with their input etc. meeting in person saves a lot of hassle and there is less room for miscommunications.
If meeting in person is a pain I either add a folder named clientX on my webserver and either chat with them through IM or on the phone until stuffs how they like it and upload everything to their domain and change the config. etc.
OR do it in a folder on their domain and just move everything to site root when the time comes...

I love doing all the work on local machine and then just upping everything when it's ready though.....saves a bundle of time...and the client thinks your a bloody magician looking at the "live" mock-up on my laptop....
