Thanks Stephen. I wasn't aware of an upgrade. Got it!

Peter, 'JCalPro' looks very promising! Thanks!

Phew--you had me worried for a sec! I NEED that component as no others provide the functionality I need. It allows me to publish "latest events" specific to certain categories. I haven't seen anything else that does. Thyme probably does, but it is a bit pricey for me at this time!

I too am eager to see JCalPro!

    • I can't find the 'Uninstall' freature that they were talking about. Any ideas? I've got a lot of dates entered and I hoped that I could upgrade without loosing that info. Otherwise I'll just wait for the elease of JCal.

      Thanks Stephen!

There is an uninstall file in the com_extcalendar folder.

Have you tried entering yourdomain.com/joomla/components/ext_cal...tall.extcalendar.php into the address bar of your browser to execute the file?

I haven't used it myself. As I recall there were also a few changes to the text of one of the files when upgrading.

    • Thanks Stephen. I'll try that. But, I'll be sure to backup.

I've been looking at Thyme also. did run the test file and it said I had IonCube but not Zend. I sent a message tio my host and they are going to install Zend Optimizer today. I may take advantage of the 30 trial and test drive Thyme on a test subdomain. I'll report back here on what happens.

    • My favorite calendar is http://www.easyphpcalendar.com.  It's fabulous, but not created for use Joomla. However, one of the users has made a Joomla module for the easyphpcalendar.

I use ExtCalendar, but it has been known to have a security weakness. I've been hacked twice thru that component. Glad I have a backup and no critical info on the site.

    • Hi Billy, are you referring to the bug fix, or is there a new upgrade to ExtCalendar2?

Read the post on joomla.org, also a download link there to the "patched" component.
