Best Calendar out there?

    • I haven't seen anyone mention this calendar: extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...nk_id,902/Itemid,35/

I have it running on a site and it works fine. Actually, it's very much like JEvents in many ways.

I like ExtCalendar but the default colors and graphics are hideous IMO. I, for one, feel that simple borders and background colors are all that is necessary for a decent calendar and grayscale tones are fine for a default installation. The use of images in the layout means that images must be edited before the look can be modified; where background colors can be quickly edited via the stylesheet.

Will the pro version come with a set of "skins"?

In my opinion, there is not a good calendar component for Joomla. This is one thing that JOomla really lacks.
But, I use Events component because I could edit the CSS. I really don't LOVE it, but it works best for me.

This is a great solution... until the DREAM solution comes along. Can you ad "images" to the calendar view... or to the story / event details page??

      I like what you've done!!

PM me if you have time... I'd love to talk through setting this up for the first time for a project I'm volunteering on.

    • It really and I mean REALLY depends on two things.
      1. What are you using the Calendar for? (To keep up with... what???)
      2. WHO will be adding the content and how?
I use ext_calendar on a few sites, I use JEvents on a few, Thyme on two sites, EventsList on a few, and Gig_Calendar on a few. I've tried literally.. all of the ones currently listed at extensions.joomla...and a some that aren't. All of them have their strengths and weaknesses, but IMHO the key is matching the USER to the component. So... that's how I determine what Calendar that I will put on a site. I install it... and find out whether they can use it or not. If they have any problems...I uninstall and add another one. Yes, it's more work early on... but, it has made my administration of calendars much easier.
      That's my .02 worth.
