I'm trying to set up a joomla site for the first time, and I'm using rocketlauncher to deploy Metamorph.
I've got the package folder (unzipped) in my public_html folder, but when I try to call it all I get is "index access restricted".
When I asked my host support desk all I got was "I will suggest you to un-install Joomla installation from your site and try to install it again. You can install Joomla from cpanel >> Fantastico option also." ??? Very helpful!
(Not sure why they didn't suggest I check my computer was plugged in!! )
Hoping I'm being embarrassingly dumb about this and the answer is simple/obvious.....

Hi,
yeah. The Joomla files including index.php (which is what we are trying to call isn't it?) are in a folder called "joomla_rt_metamorph_j15" which is in the root. IE mysite/joomla_rt_metamorph_j15/index.php
I was assuming I'm getting "index access restricted" because of an access control/permission setting. If it wasn't finding index.php, I'd be getting a 404

there isn't a folder called "installation" in the unzipped package.
I unzipped locally and then ftp'd it all onto the server. Do you think this could be a Windows Vista idiosyncracy? (I'm discovering all sorts of quirky behaviour since I recently bought a new machine with vista on it. Files not going to places they should.) Maybe Vista didn't like the look of a folder called "installation" and put it somewhere else!
K. I'll look for the missing folder and report back. If no luck, I'll pm you Prim with a login. tyvm

1. Download the RocketLauncher again.
2. Extract the package (i use Winrar)
3. Check which directories that are created. It should look something like this:
administrator
cache
components
images
includes
language
libraries
logs
media
modules
plugins
templates
tmp
xmlrpc
CHANGELOG.php
configuration.php
configuration.php-dist
COPYRIGHT.php
CREDITS.php
favicon.ico
htaccess.txt
index.php
index2.php
INSTALL.php
LICENSE.php
LICENSES.php
robots.txt
Thumbs.db
4. If the above is ok then select all those files and folders and upload them to your public_html folder on your server.
5. Verify that everything got uploaded.
6. Go to
91.186.31.15/~alastair/installation/
and start installing Joomla.
7. When you get to the page where you enter admin password and site name you will see a button there "install sample data". Click on it.
8. Once the installation is done, Login via FTP and delete the installation directory.
9. To login to your site you need to go to
91.186.31.15/~alastair/administrator
.
I hope this helps
