    Grid Server hosting

    • Rocketeers,

I was beginning to search for a new VPS hosting environment, as my site will soon be launching.
I decided to read Techcrunch.com blog before the search, when i stumbled across this new Grid server hosting.
At $20.00/month with loads of very cool features, it's worth a look. I plan on switching my the end of the week.

Podcast: Interview with the CEO and Staff
      www.fonpods.com/series.aspx?podcastid=324

      Company website:
      www.mediatemple.net/company/aboutus/

I actually played the podcast while browsing the website, and it was a very nice experience in shopping.

Sorry, i have no design skills, so i hope to at least pass on information

btw, i have no affiliation with this company, even though we are only 10 minutes away.

    • First of all I have no Idea what VPS hosting is....
      But,
Looks better than other hosts but personally regarding to my own host. It really sucks and to 99% of all hostings I say WOW they should get hacked or something because they are pathetic :o

      www.dreamhost.com - it's actually insane.
      When I first registered, I payed $20/month for 9600mb webspace - 40gb bandwidth.
      Now im paying $16/month for 400gb webspace - 4tb bandwidth :O

Insane, If anyone subscribes, I can give you a $40 Less - Promo Code because I will get $97 for reffering :)
But this is not about reffering, I seriously love Dreamhost.

    • The grid hosting site looks interesting to me. How is it different from standard VPS technology. Has it been proved to be reliable? Do you get the same level of control as you do with a VPS? From what I have heard, you need to put in a support ticket just to install ImageMagick. so it seems more restricted than a VPS solution

The price seems very reasonable but I always have doubts about quality when a company offers so much for so little. I see they have their own control panel. Personally all my experience is with WHM/cpanel so I would be a little reluctant to change. to a non industry standard control panel.

Support is also on the top of my list. My current host has the most amazing support I have ever come across. They basically have a guy on IRC or messenger 24/7 who answers any problems in real-time. This is very handy on a VPS as you can imagine.

Please post back your experiences when you have been with them for a few months.

If you take a look over the forums at webhostingtalk you will see mediatemple have big problems with database driven sites.

      Some interesting threads are www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=...ighlight=mediatemple

      www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=...ighlight=mediatemple

Personally until they sort out these issues, I would stay clear. But the technology looks interesting

    • Hey Lee,

Thanks for the great link to the discussion on the webhosting forum. I will definitely do some more research before signing up with them.

    • Media Temple are probably one of the better and more reliable hosting companies out there. I don't use them myself but they wouldn't be off my list if I needed a new host.

They probably have some teething problems, but certainly, I wouldn't count them out as a dud yet :)

      My opinion of course

    • It seems that they are going through some start-up pains.

Funny thing happened.... I sent them an e-mail to see how they will perform with Joomla,
and my friend called my back, saying that he saw my e-mail in his e-mail box.
Come to find out that he has started working for them a couple of weeks back.
So he'll let me know when everything is cool.

    • From what I have heard, mysql is going down for a couple of hours each day. Once they get the problems sorted out I may look into getting a trial account. I also heard something about you are not able to have multiple databases??

    • Are you ignoring my post or something?
How ugly are all those hosts, do you want to pay for almost nothing?
It actually pisses me off really much.

Why are you always so aggressive to people on this forum? Maybe he didn't want to join with the company you get $94 from if he joins? All yours posts seem to attack people, like the guy that tried to help you with putting the image to the left, you attacked him that he wasn't listening to you, and earlier you attacked me when I wouldn't write a step by step tutorial for you on how to put technozine into a vbulletin header.

      Seriously, lighten up
