Hostgator, for me, are fantastic. Support is very good, prices are reasonable, performance is great. I just upgraded to a reseller account, which is incredibly easy to use, and good value, you can easily make a profit from selling hosting to your clients. Avoid 1&1 like the plague, and GoDaddy are shocking as well.
I tried Hostgator purely because lots of people on here said how good they were, and I'm not disappointed. Rochen are meant to be very good, but the higher prices put me off.
