Virtuemart Query - Anyone done this?

    • Hi All - I have used Virtuemart for a couple of sites but only as a catalouge type format. I am trying to put a site together for a client using Virtuemart that uses the checkout function but only sends an email enquiry not actually processing an order.

This is all fine but what I want to do is simplify the process by removing the need for user registration. Basically the users click the products they wish to enquire about, it adds to cart, then they simply insert basic details Name, Phone number etc and the website owner is emailed the enquirey and can then make contact.

I cant for the life of me figure it out or find a mod that will allow the registration process to be skipped - Just wondering if any of you have done this?? long shot but worth an ask.

      Thanks for looking

    • Have you asked at the VM forum? they have a very active forum.

    • I'd like to do the same thing on a site. The Virtuemart forum has lots of messages asking the same question but no answers.

    • Hello David,

Maybe this is not a simple hack/modification...

      Just a little suggestion...

Maybe by modifying the registration form, so that you can define what fields are required or not or even not for all....

Or, modifying the checkout process so it can skip some steps....

But don't forget to turn off the email verification in Joomla backend, so the new user (let's say buyer) doesn't need to verify his/her account...

I hope this can give a bit idea....maybe....

    • Yeah have had a big hunt through the forum and as Donna says - lots of people asking the same thing - I might have to roll my sleeves up and have a play around as Arifin suggests.

      Thanks

    • Hllo, I never used Vituemart but if you need to modify the registration form, You can try the user_extended component and module. Very easy to use!

If I am not wrong, the registration form I mean is the registration form for Virtuemart when a new buyer want to check out.. I am not sure if user_extended component can be used for this...
Please correct me if I am wrong....

    • David, what did you do ? would you share? I was on the vitumart forum so many times and even emailin Soeren on how to do it and it always came back in Soerens opinion that whats wrong with having it there, Nothing against opinion but so many want to disable that function...me for one!

Lost many a sale from people not being able to quickly get to the check out at paypal and pay me, also not having a SSL on my site with it installed, people not wanting to double enter their private details. When using paypal all I needed was them to add to their cart, it total and take them to paypal where they could enter their payment and personal details there.

Would really appreciate knowing how you hacked it to skip the step! will even donate for the hack, as would so many that vist the vitumart forums looking for the same solution!
