Actually, I fixed it also, sort of. Client did not want registrations to the site and they did not want customers paying online (it is for a school registration).
So I:
1. configured the Joomla registration to allow for duplicate email addresses.
2. configured Joomla to not require activation of registration
3. used hidden registration on VirtueMart
4. commented out the VirtueMart code that sends the registration notification email -- in administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/ps_shopper.php there are two places where the function mosMail() is used, one email sent out for the user and one email sent out to the admin.
Technically, the user is still being registered, but they don't know it. And if they come back again, they don't need their old registration info b/c a new one will be created with the same email.
Ok I am not sure if what I have done is the function you are wanting (Donna's is probably better )
But have a look at
www.sitech.co.nz
- it still needs finishing but basically I have skipped the payment side altogether and it acts as a simply enquiry form. Once you hit Checkout you simply enter your name, email and phone number. An email is then sent to the store owner with contact details and the products that were ordered/enquired about and a notification with product details sent to the client.
Is this what you were after Justin?
*note - Please don't send any enquires - If you have to please only do it once and write test in each field (but put your email address so you can see the notification email)
I have a club site that would be able to use the work around that you put together David. Just having the cart system there is good!
What I was basically after was no registration at all required by the user. reason being because I want to use paypal, they paypal actually collect all their info, and sends me the payment reciept with all their details.
If Im collecting their information also, it's just too much double handling of information, AND I found the site was getting allot of orders in the site but stopped once they got to paypal. so I had all these orders hanging in space, which just takes more time than I want to spend with chasing dead orders.
I want them to fill up the cart, then when they are at their cart hit paynow then the would be sent straight to paypal. Where I have a merchant cart set up.
The way I have it set on a few sites is just using paypal buy now buttons, without a cart system which though works is a pain! especially if a customer wants a few items and pay all together!
Which is why I really do want to use virtumart.
Until I can figure out HOW to work it like this though, I would really be intrested in the one you used on your sitech website. I know at least for my own site, where I can get back to the client fast, them sending an enquirey with filled cart information would be great!
So now how did you do it David, ;D
Don't think, Feeeeel... It is like a finger pointing to the moon. (slap) Don't concentrate on the finger or you'll miss all that heavenly glory.
