there are a few issues to deal with ... as well as conflict of interest you've also got one which is page rank from/to .. the links page on one of my sites is PR5 and if i'm only getting links on from PR 1 or 2 then although it's helping i'm doing more help, if you get what i mean
there is a workaround the conflict of interest thing. most of us have more than one site and the links don't have to be reciprocal just on an equal basis ..
its also important to get the anchor text in ... you don't just want a link but you want your keywords also - www.c3p0.se - sweden

Good point on the keywords - as instead of a straight url link you would want a text link featuring keywords you want to grow your google ranking under.
I do understand what you mean Dan in terms of conflict of Interest but I think GollumX and damo's comments/points answer this.
Perhaps we could all make a list of our site in excell with url, keyword text you want for the link eg "website design in Fiji" The type of site, traffic / pageviews (as mentioned pagerank is not always up to date) and page rank..... We can then pool it all together and work out which sites would benefit from which link etc etc
Then come to some agreement - or we could put up a site that we could all access to share links in a mutuall beneficial way?
Or is that all a bit confusing?? was typing as I was thinking

Every Burger King is next to a McDonalds for a reason; the business of one is actually improved by the presence of the other. Will this work with regards to web-designers? I am not sure, but I think it would be one heck of a resource to have both your work and Joomla get noticed. The key would be to make sure that the site reflects positively and points out all the benefits of Joomla.
If there is anything I can do to help please let me know.

Also, Ive launched my site this month with 0 sites linking to mine. 18 days after launch an Admin of www.xbox-scene.com makes an announcement on this frontpage on the HUGE and VERY popular xbox site... I have no Idea how he found us but ok... 19 days after Launch my site already has more than 1000 members and hundreds of sites linking to the site.
But no PageRank yet... a friend (admin of xboxusersgroup.com) tells me when the time comes, my pagerank will go from 0 to like... 4-6
What im trying to say is that Im really lucky haha.
Anyways, im down for something like this.
A good thing to do is also go to sites and forums related to yours and partner up with the site... or just post your site in the website discussion forum if there is one - and if you do, put some strong keywords in the Hyperlink! - Last Edit: 17 years 10 months ago by Jordan.

I think I've cracked it!
I've seen my site jump from PR0 to PR4 in a week, and am now comfortably achieving 350+ unique visitors per day.
How?
Make a template, offer it for free, and advertise it on the Joomla news section.
My commercial version of the template has already been purchased twice and was only released 14 hours ago.

thats great but it has nothing to do with helping us if we dont sell or create our own templates (remember, we're IN a template club, not a template designing club
)
And it didnt affect the PageRank much, probably like 2% maybe..
The higher pagerank you have, the harder it is (ex. 10-100 for pr1, 100-1000 for pr2 etc. )
As said above, my site was announced on a huge other site and look at their ranking at hits:
alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=xbox-scene.com
Yeah, thousands of visitors came and we already got more than a 1000 members within 19 days, but the good thing is that I found out that another 100 or more sites link to mine because of that newspost they had on their frontpage.
What now? Still PR0
