Scrolling ad banner Module

  • Scrolling ad banner Module

    Posted 15 years 2 months ago
    • Hi,

      I have a client with a Joomla site 1.5x. They would like to add another advertising position to the site for banner ads. We are using OpenX ad engine to distribute the ad, so this can be a module that I can place the invocation code in for the ad engine.

      Their word, "We would like to ad scrolling ad banners. The kind that follow you as you scroll down the page and have a close button on them. Sometimes they look like a post-it note."

      Does anyone know of a Joomla 1.5x compatible ad banner module like this or would you be interested in creating one. It may be some simple CSS and JS to get the module to display in a higher z level layer and follow the scrolling of the visitor.

      Thanks,
      Mike

    • Hi,

      I think I have it figured out. I'm going to make a banner module based on some java scripts I found.

      If anyone is interested I can post a sample back here when I'm done.

      Thanks,
      Mike

    • I would be interested in this. It seems that the Rockettheme site is using a similar kind of auto-scroll module in the right hand column. I'm looking for this functionality and haven't been able to find much on this site, or the joomla.org extension site. Any help or information would be great.

    • Hi,

      Here is the basic code. I still need to put this in a module and let accept var input from the module manager. If you copy past this into an HTML file and view You will see what I mean.
      <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
      <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
      <head>
      <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
      <title>Untitled Document</title>
      </head>

      <body>

      <table width="90%" border="0" cellpadding="0" height="2000">
        <tr>
          <td>&nbsp;</td>
          <td>&nbsp;</td>
          <td>&nbsp;</td>
        </tr>
      </table>

      <!-- Begin FloatMail Code //-->

      <script>
      /* Floating Mail-This-Link Script C.2004 by CodeLifter.com */

      // Insert the entire script just before the </body> tag.
      // Set the following two position parameters
      // Negative numbers are relative to right (hX) or bottom (vY)
      // Positive numbers are relative to left (hX) or (vY) top
      // Experiment with values to get positioning exact, and allow
      // for the dimensions of the image & form in the positioning

      // var hX = 340;
      // var vY = -140;

      var hX = 340;
      var vY = 100;

    • Hi,

      When I get this into a module I'll post a link.

      I was thinking that it may be nice to be able to use this module to display other modules. So you can make any module a floating slider module. I'll met you know how that goes.

    • Hi,

      The code I posted does not work in IE8 for some reason. I'm trying to come up with a fix using jquery or something similar.

      Does anyone here know how this show work in IE?
