    • Hi Rocketeers!

On Camber template everything works fine after update J1.7 -> J2.5! Be careful PHP version, Extension updates, Gantry update and clear your cache!

      Bye!

      hi again adrian,

which template are you using? none of our templates shouls break with php 5.3, so we'll definitely need to get that fixed if there is indeed a bug.

      kat :)

      Kat,

This thread prompted me to re-visit the long-standing issue with php 5.3x and my Joomla 1.0x/RT Vortex site.

Googling, it seems that php 1.53 can and often does break Joomla, so I will follow that course of enquiry.

I have to upgrade to the latest php so now seems like a good opportunity to resolve these legacy issues.

      Thanks.

Just create a new module in the Module Manager and chooser the kind you want. They are not auto created in "left" position as they were in Joomla 1.5.

      Sticky.... Sticky... :)

Thanks for this. Been looking all over trying to figure out why the rok modules appeared to install, but didn't show up. It's a 2.5 thang. Thanks for the clarification. Hope this works. Other modules that I've installed show up fine. But RokSlideShow doesn't show up under installed modules.

      :)
Feel like I'm learning Mambo all over again. How fun.

    • yah as we are doing our own custom installer thing we can configure how those are installed. It was a design decision on our part not to have a 'default' install. Basically you end up with lots of modules in a position that we don't even use. Using the 'wizard' makes more sense even for that first module. Another thing we need to document better :)

      hi again,

would you require this for j2.5 or j1.5? vortex is getting converted for j2.5 at some point and for sure it must be working fine with php 5.3 then. :)

      hi again,

I would like Vortex for Joomla 2.5 in principle, but going from Joomla 1.x to 2.5x is a big jump.

I have quite a few 1.x extensions, some of which are probably defunct by now, including an Extension I developed myself - "Recommend this page to friends" - which works great.

So thinking about it, the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule seems to apply to that site. I can't afford to break it, due to the user numbers, and the fact I have plenty of other Joomla 1.5x sites to think about.

My strategy has to be to fix the php 5.3x issue - it isn't Vortex - it seems to be that version of Joomla.

Joomla 1.73 really through me a curved ball. Joomla released 2.5 after 100 hours development on my new site - which is a major one - you will see :)

So in summary I am going to fix the php 5.3x issue, upgrade to the very latest php and mySQL, and leave my other sites well alone, instead focusing on my moving my current development site from 1.73 to 2.5. At least all the Extensions I have installed so far are RT ones, so I know who to come to :)

I hope Mission Control works under 2.5 as well - that is an awesome Admin template.

    • Adrian,

I have a Joomla 2.5.0 site that is working on PHP 5.2.17 that uses Momentum here

      http://www.motorsportsdevelopmentgroup. com (remove space)

When I upgrade to php 5.3 the RokGallery slide show on the Home page stops scrollling & I also have some formatting issues.

It is a live site so I changed it back to PHP 5.2.17

I will set up a test version of the site using PHP 5.3 & post the problem in a separate post in this forum but I have Joomla 2.5.0 working with PHP 5.2.17
