I am getting a little irritated with the Mynxx Tutorial and It is probably true for all the template tutorials that the first basic information is skipped, assuming that you already know where to find whatever is being referenced.
Since I am totally new to all of this, I have to post questions to the topic or search Google to find out the basic information, which can easily be included in the Template Tutorials. I am currently trying to edit my logo and the instructions just tell me to " open the mynxx-logo-source.png " . I haven't a clue how to do this and/or how long it will take me to search the internet or wait for a response on the forums so that I can discover on my own how to open this file. How about if the Templates are written as though they are addressing people like myself who have mever worked with this system previously?

we always try to make all our tutorials suitable for beginners and advanced members alike.
each template demo site already includes a lot of helpful information.

each template`s forum also has a seperate board for tutorials and guides where you can check for the faq`s.

I would start a new topic in the Mynxx forum if that forum were easy to locate- but my comment is not Mynexx specific- that is just the tutorial I happen to be using.
I finally figured out that I needed to install Mynexx Sources. Now I am on the Fireworks Tutorial and it is telling me to optimize settigs in the Layer Palette. Can't find such a command so maybe I will just forget about using Adobe Fireworks. How long will I have to search for this one. They say it is in the "Layer Palette". There is nothing that I can see that is specifically called the layer palette. Optimization sounds nice but if one cannot locate it, that is as far as it goes. Someone needs to write a tutorial on writing tutorials.

The source files need to be edited in FireWorks.

The consequence of installing the free Afterburner template to try out seems to be that none of the other templates work if I revert to them... So I think a warning would be a good idea!
Ok - I installed it in the main phpbb directory and now I can see the forum again, but the RokBB3 module isn't showing up in my main forum admin panel. Does it only do so if you install Rokbridge? I haven't done this as I was just trying out alternative template styles...
Is there a guide to setting up the joomla with phpbb3 somewhere? As I don't have access to the PHPBB forums its not clear where else to look...

I know the issue of RT's support model has been discussed ad nauseum, but I think it's important for those on a specific side of the issue to speak up.
I have a template specific problem. A problem that I'm confident has been addressed already in the template specific forum. I simply want to read through the forum for the answer. I don't want to ask a developer a question. I don't want to take up anyone's time. I don't even want to post my problem. I simply want to search for an answer to a question that I'm sure has already been asked concerning a template that I've already paid for.
To ask me to pay an additional $75 for this is, in my opinion, outrageous. I know, I know... the TOS. That's great. You're covered legally.
I've been researching other templates for several weeks now for a new project I'm starting. And up until this morning I've been all warm and fuzzy about RT. But I've lost the warm and fuzzy and will seriously look at other template providers before making a decision.
So you very well may have lost a customer. And if you've lost me, how many other customers have you lost/will you lose simply by hiding answers to already asked questions.

To ask you specific questions and get specific answers, taking your time and using your expertise and knowledge, is worth more than $75/year.
To search through questions that have already been answered about a template I've already paid for shouldn't cost a dime.

There is always a compromise when it comes to how we can provide services and functionality to club members. Rather than selling one template at a time, we use a club model that makes all our templates as well as forums available during your membership term. There are great benefits for doing it this way. You the members, get a HUGE selection of templates to choose from and use during your term. This is especially true if you choose the 1 year, $90 option, you have a whole year of access and during that year you can change your mind and use up to 3 templates concurrently. After your membership expires, and if you choose not to renew, you are still able to continue to use those templates at no extra cost.
If you purchased a single template from some other provider, you would not have these features, if you wanted to use another template, you would have to pay again. The downside is that by making all our templates available to you, there is not so much incentive to rejoin. Aside from 'new' templates our primary incentive we can provide is access to the forum.
Even if you selected the 1 entitlement, 3 month option, you would have a full 3 months to use the forums. It's not like you have to pay a mandatory additional $75 to get access to the forums, that's the price of a 1 year renewal (20% off), for which you get access to the forums for another full year + access to all our new templates for another year with associated entitlements.
I just want to mention that pretty much every Joomla template club has copied our model over the years, and you will be in the same boat with any other provider. It's not like we're doing something 'sneaky' we try to make this information as clear and as public as possible throughout the signup process.
I'm sure this is not the answer you had hoped for, but I'm just trying to explain how the club works, and also show why we can't just change it.

I really wasn't hoping for any specific answer. The options available to RT members are spelled out clearly in the TOS and during the registration procedure. I could just as easily blame myself for opting under the 3-month/1 entitlement plan. Had I known at the time that I'd want/need several more templates within a year, or that I'd still have problems/questions after the 3 month membership had ended, I certainly would've joined for a longer period of time -- and we wouldn't be having this discussion.
I really shouldn't have complained. I should have simply voiced my frustration.
But, as you so aptly described, there's much to be satisfied with on how RTs model works. During my 3 month membership, I downloaded and experimented with 4 different templates before deciding on the one I would use. That freedom is certainly not available with many other template providers.
So, after reading your reply, and giving it some more thought, I'd like to retract the negative tone that my previous post took. But also add a suggestion. Perhaps the template-specific forums could be set up as 'read only' for non members. This would not only be a benefit for those who find themselves in the situation that I was in earlier (I've since discovered the problem and fixed it), but it might also be beneficial for prospective new members to see how well RT supports it's products.
Simply an idea.
Anyway, thank you Andy for the quick and substantial reply. I appreciate the explanation. It did cause me to walk back some of my comments.

- I think I should still have access to the template forums after my membership expires -- I paid for these templates and should still be able to get community support for them

There's no way possible for us to track which specific forum you should be subscribed to and allow you unlimited access to it.
I.e., you could be using 'template A' when you first start and receive support for it, and then switch to 'template B' close to or after your subscription expires.
