If you have an uploaded template, this is not your default template, do you need the add the patch? or of course just delete the template on the server.
if your not using the template, then there's really not much risk. Of course, deleting the templates you are not using is probably a best practice.

I just went to the download area for the templates, especially the latest one. Noticed the date and version number of the template is not updated (still Dec 31st, etc.). Would it not be a good idea to update the version number and date for all the affected templates, so the masses will realize there is a valid reason for making these changes???
Just a thought....
Or, better yet....
Why not have a security update for each template that is "just" the affected php files? Easier for the users who are not overly technically minded. Keeps them from making any major boo-boos to their sites, like overwriting their entire site files without realizing they did it.
As it is a security fix, it will stick out to all the users this way.

Oh... what a very very very bad new.
I have 2 heavy customized sites, one with versatility 1 and one with firefrog.
Customizations in first case affect dozens of files, extensions included, and in second case is limited to index.php, template_css.css, style_firefrog.css and template_ie.css.
What do you suggest to effectively update those sites whithout going crazy?
