Template settings not working after upgrade to Joomla 3.4.8

Posted 8 years 10 months ago
    • I recently upgraded to joomla 3.4.8 due to the security risk with previous versions. As far as I know my site wasn't affected by a security threat. Immediately after upgrading I lost some of the css of the template so I switched to another template and then saved. I tried to save back but the template manager is broken, with no CSS.

I have tried deleting sit and administrator caches, reinstalling the template, and recopying a fresh installation of joomla over the existing installation.

None of my other sites have had this problem. But all other rockettheme templates have the same issue. Standard templates work fine.

It displays as in the screen shot.

    • btw the correct template is paradigm. But actually none of the rockettheme templates are saveable.
Usually when this issue occurs its a cache issue - but it's not in this case.

    • I just noticed that your subscription has expired? Support does require a current subscription.

But so far I have found:

      1. You had installed Gantry 5? Gantry 5 is a different framework to Gantry 4 and requires it's own templates (not of which were installed). So I just uninstalled Gantry 5 and left Gantry 4.
      2. Your Paradigm template is out of date on v1.4 (latest is v1.5) - you will need a subscription to get the latest version.
      3. You are getting loads of server500 errors in the console when you go into template manager - you need to look in the apache error log and look for a more meaningful error message associated with that server500 that will yeild more clues.

    • And even after reinstalling gantry 4.1.29 I still get the same problems with template manager.
Also, Extensions/Manage/Warnings says Temp PHP folder is not set.

      Any ideas?

    • Gantry 4.1.29 was already installed?

What does the apache erro log say for the server 500?

it doesn't matter about the php temp directory not being set.

As I said earlier though, you don't have a current subscription - if you require support you should purchase a subscription (even if it's just single template lifetime).

    • Hi,

I have just purchased a renewal - although not the develop license this time.
I installed the latest template plus gantry and still get the same error.

It appears that the debug console has also disappeared now. Even though it is set to maximum.

    • Could you check the ftp details that you gave me because if can't login... I keep getting "login authentication failed". Make sure you don't have ip whitelisting or geoblocking on the account.

That error message that you are getting says something is wrong with your htaccess file so I do need to check that.

      Regards, Mark.
