    • This appears to be a widespread and growing problem - I see the issues are being reported here too... www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=33...24217&rb_v=viewtopic

I have tried to clean up my site by removing as many plugins as a can - but still no luck....

If the problem can't be pinpointed, would the Dev's consider reverting the back-end to good old fashioned radio buttons or drop-downs - I know it looks lovely as it is right now but do we need a lovely back-end if it's going to conflict with things?

      hi again,

you can try a rocketlauncher install in a subdirectory on the same server, just for checking if it is a server related issue maybe. if the rocketlauncher admin works fine, then we know it's not a server related issue and you could start adding your plugins there each time checking at which point gantry is breaking. please make sure to disable all cache and compression on that test site and clearing your browser cache between each step.

really sorry but apart from that i do not know how to troubleshoot the issue on your install.

    • Hi again,

I've gone over my site with a fine-toothed comb via Kate's previous post on Gantry. All my settings are inline with what Kate suggested. I don't have many plugins either as my site is pretty new.

I'm a total newbie when it comes to web development. I'm using this as a learning experience, so I have no clue what web browser to use. I usually use Chrome--is this recommended?

And also, what the heck is a cache and how do I clean it?

    • hi jessie,

chrome should not cause any issue in the gantry backend, but if in doubt you could always give a different browser a try to see if it makes a difference.

my favorite browser is firefox, it has some great tools such as firebug add-on and webdeveloper add-on which are really helpful with webdevelopment.

      anyways, cache: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cache

you can read a lot about joomla and gantry cache here:
      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=15..._v=viewtopic#p566242

there is also the cache in your browser, for example if you're using firefox, you can clear your cache by going to > tools > clear recent history > cache
in chrome the same can be done via > chrome > clear browsing data

clearing cache is always advised after you have made changes to your site, if you do not clean your cache, the changes may not show up immediately.

    • Trying to clear cache in hopes that helps with the problem... Not sure if it's connected but if I go to Joomla Back End > Tools > Clean Cache > Admin... Then there's an entry there _gantry (the only entry)... It says 0 files and 0 size so looks empty but it won't delete - Could that indicate a problem?

    • I hear Gantry 4 will put less stress on the browser + have some neat features so i guess we'll have to wait until that is released.

Usually the frozen admin backend is caused by permission issues, cache, (nonumber) plugins or a hickup by the js performance of the browser. But you have all tried that i think

    • Just an update to let you know we are using RSFeedback and once i disabled the plugin everything started working again.

So after looking at the code its loading mootoools and modal so i commented that out and hey presto both are now working fine together.

      I hope this helps

    • Hi Derek - That's interesting - I have RSFiles, RSComment, RSBlog and RS FormPro - So maybe I can solve my Gantry problem the same way - Not as code clever as you though - Can you help me identify where you went to comment out those codes? Was it in Gantry or RS? Which file(s)? Thanks!
