SOLVED Gantry templates will not SAVE template changes

- All gantry templates will not allow me to edit or save any changes to styles or settings in the Template Manager administration screen. I see a lot of similar problems posted with Gantry on the board, bit no real clear solution. I have read all the posts and tried the various suggestions without any luck. Any help to resolve this would be a big help.
  
  I'm running:
  Joomla 2.5.6
  Gantry 3.2.20
  Php 5.2.8
  Appache 2.2.11
  
  Done several reinstalls, and also tested other gantry templates - all templates have the same problem.
  
  Any help right now would be greatly appreciated.

- If gantry is not saving, from our experience, 99% of the time, its because of some 3rd party plugin or extension that is conflicting with mootools. Try unpublishing plugins and modules (specifically admin ones) until you find the troublemaker.

- Thanks for the suggestion, it is a fresh install with only 1 extension installed (explorer).
  I will try removing it and see what happens. Any other suggestions?

- Using Safari browser, and have also tested on Chrome and get same issue.

- 1. Disable all cache plugins.
  2. Check if all directories used by Joomla are writable.

- 1. All cache plugins were already disabled
  2. Fresh Joomla install, all directories are 644 or 755 (is this what you mean by writable?)
  
  Problem still exists. Next steps or suggestions?

- Yes but 644 and 755 might not work on all servers because of ownership issues.
  
  Site > Global configuration > Directory permissions
  
  Are they all marked as writable?

- Configuration.php was not writable, changed settings are tried again. Now all directories show as writable, but the same problem still exists. Ideas?
