SOLVED VirtueMart 2.0.22b Breaks Gantry

    • After upgrading a site from Gantry 4.1.14 to 4.1.15 and VirtueMart 2.0.22a to 2.0.22b, going to a product or product category page throws this error:
      Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /home/user/public_html/libraries/gantry/gantry.php on line 267

      Other pages and extensions seem to be fine. After some testing, I determined that it isn't the Gantry update that caused the problem. VM 2.0.22a works fine with Gantry, VM 2.0.22b does not. I am posting in case anyone has any idea what's going on and also in case anyone else has the issue, they'll know they're not alone.

      I will test updating the Gantry template (it's a custom one, not RocketTheme) and if that doesn't fix it, I'll post in the VirtueMart forums. They say on the update that it might break some custom templates and plugins but that's probably been on there forever.

      joomla version 2.5.14
      Virtuemart version 2.0.22b
      Gantry version 4.1.15

      So after uninstalling Gantry, and reinstalling manually the entire package, the administrator never seems to install on the first try, but can be discovered, and then installed, but the vm package is still broken.

      Any help to fix this is greatly appreciated!

      please not that i sill love RocketTheme and will always use them for my work, it is virtuemart that i don't like!!

    • I hear you Andre T but changing to osCommerce is not a timely solution to this particular problem.

      Can the two of you (Gantry and VirtueMart) get together to figure out what's going on here? I don't have the expertise to be any help on this issue.

    • I'm wondering if its a php issue. The server that my particular install is on is php 5.2.13. I do have another install that's on the newest php version but am reluctant to upgrade it to the vm 2.0.22b in case this is not the issue. Trying to decide whether or not to migrate to the new version or rollback via backup. I will let you know when I decide or make the move.

      I'm guessing that efocus is probably already running PHP 5.3.x so that might not be the solution. However upgrading to PHP 5.3.x is a great idea for a myriad of reasons.

    • Yes we are working on a migration process to the new server with all the latest versions. Thank you for your feedback. I will definately not be upgrading the other site until this is resolved.

      Is there anything else that we can provide to help speed up the troubleshooting process (error logs, admin access?
