Thank, Stewart, but I don't seem to be able to install Gallery2. I've copied all the files, like Coppermine or SMF, and then I try to access the install by typing in the URL, but nothing happens. Am I missing something?

Are you going to the install directory?

If so, then I don't know why it is not working. Maybe something at codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Ho...stalling_Gallery_2_2 will help.

    • Ah, I just figured out the problem. 1/3rd of the files were missing after I unzipped. I'm downloading a fresh Gallery2 zip. That may have been my problem all along.

I'll report after I try AGAIN!

      Thanks, man!

    • DRAT! I've spent 4 hours loading everything and the Bridge does not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *&^%$#@

The Gallery2 installed with one 'warning'. It asked me to change the php.ini file from memory of 8MB to 16MB. I didn't know how to do that so I continued (foolishly!). I guess it has something to do with this error when I tried to go to the Config selection of the bridge.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 46080 bytes) in /var/www/html/gallery2/modules/core/classes/helpers/GalleryItemHelper_medium.class on line 360

Yep, that's what I got after the install of the bridge went well, but as soon as I selected the Config in the bridge component menu, that's what I got.

      Here's what I used.

      GALLERY 2 VERSION: Gallery 2.1
      BRIDGE: com_gallery2_v2.0.13-beta2.zip

Any suggestions? Seems like it didn't have the memory setup.Maybe that's it! How do I change it in the php.ini file? *&^%$#@

A NEW pain in the royal ___!

    • so does gallery work on it's own/standalone?

      That's the first step...

I manage several different Gallery installs (v1.5.x, v2.0.x & v2.1.x) and have only integrated on two installs but it usually only takes me a few minutes to setup a new (default settings) install... (or upgrade an existing...)

Since you're using G2, I'd say try the "minimal" package at first, you can add any Gallery modules you need later. And obviously if you can, try to get your PHP.ini adjusted by your host.

There seems to be no reported problems with running v2.1.x with the v2.0.13 bridge...

    • Hey Dave

I just found the instal guides for "gallery" from my isp.

There's an older guide and also a newer one too, I don't know the difference between the two, but these might help you?
Also If you downloaded the full pack as I did, it took ages to unzip them all.

      Hope this helps

    • If you get the check version 2.1.1a downloads there is a preinstaller ( helpfile here ), which is a small file that you download, edit a minor passphrase thing, and upload to your server, and then you can download & extract the package directly on your server. It's much quicker & easier (and how I did it before with some simple php scripts of my own)

    • Concerning Gallery2, I get two warnings when installing Gallery2 (below).

Warning: The exec() function is disabled in your php by the disabled_functions parameter in php.ini. You won't be able to use modules that require external binaries (e.g. ImageMagick, NetPBM or Ffmpeg). This can only be set server-wide, so you will need to change it in the global php.ini.

Warning: Your PHP is configured to limit the memory to 8Mb (memory_limit parameter in php.ini). You should raise this limit to at least 16MB for proper Gallery operation.

I have requested from my webhost company to change these settings on my server. I'll try again after that.

;D I'm happy to help you
However I really suggest you to try this gallery www.gotgtek.com/cms/downloads/doc_details-411.php

It is too simply to install (it is a joomla component), easy to administrate and really beautiful
You can comment and rename your pictures, make album, upload many pictures ...
      ;D ;D ;D

Personnaly I have try all the gallery and this one is far the better ;)

      Allo YouYou,

      Voulez-vous m'aidez s'il vous plait?
I have installed Exposé 4 and that was succesful
I entered the in the Joomla! backend "Edit Exposé"

Created a collection and the subsequent album names
and now want to populate these with pictures.
So I click on "Upload photos"
Then I get a new screen giving me the choice between
"Add photos", "Upload" (which is ghosted) and "Cancel"

      Uhm... "Cancel" works perfectly ;)
But how do I "Add photos"
I have searched the fora of GTEK and Slooz,
but that did not help me.

Do I absolutely need Album Manager?
I am still on Mac OS 10.3.5, you know.

I liked your suggestion of this gallery
very much as it looks very good
and clean, so I'd love to try it out!

Soyez assuré de mes sentiment les plus meillieurs, HansNL

    • Hi,

in my opinion the PonyGallery is the best gallery for smaller picture collections. Easy to use, fully (and I mean that) customisable and it works great. The few bugs (compared to zOOm) are corrected very fast.
