    • I was just about to post the same thing. It seems there were a lot of issued a couple of years ago. The JReviews forum does not have many posts concerning RocketTheme lately. There are issues with the RT admin template.

I would also like to know if there are any known current issues with JReviews.

    • As far as I know, jReviews should work correctly with RT templates. There aren't any specific features implemented in RT templates that would stop jReviews from working

    • I just did a test installation of Modulus on my JReviews site. Everything is fine so far. I will set up some fancy Rok modules and see if anything breaks and will report back.

    • I set up RokStories and RokTabs modules. Nothing broke. But I saw two small issues that are probably easily addressed:

1.) The "New" button for new listings is not rendered in the listing detail page. Only the text appears. It does show correctly on the category listing page.

2.) The Publish to Facebook button when you leave a new review appeared four times. Not sure why. Might be an error in my Facebook integration.

I am starting a mega project with JReviews (this will be my 2nd JReviews site) with a RocketTheme template and hope they work smoothly together. I will keep everyone up to date on issues as they come up.

As a general suggestion to everyone, especially those using templates with lots of eye candy like RT templates is: INSTALL THE FEWEST AMOUNT OF EXTENSIONS POSSIBLE.

K2: Do you really need it?
SEF extensions: Use core Joomla SEO. It's powerful. Take the time to learn how to use it.
Site Map: Learn how to do it yourself.
eXtplorer: Why bother? Just use FTP. It's faster and less taxing on the server.

Every extension you install slows the site down. Joomla is slow enough already. Add Gantry and it slows down some more. Add RT modules and it gets slower. JReviews is a heavy component. I think just with an RT template and JReviews you will be at the limit of load times. Start adding extensions on top of that and you'll end up with a 25 page speed score.

RT and JReviews are powerful and do not mix well with some other extensions, especially the free ones. If you really need a plugin or component, find a commercial one that you have to pay for. The code is usually much cleaner and integration is smoother.

    • So far so good. I have just started to build the site. I have the JReviews GeoMaps and Paid Listings extensions. I have them working with a couple of dummy listings. Everything fine so far with Modulus template.

I fixed the problem with the JReviews "New" and "Featured" icons not rendering properly on the detail pages. I had to turn off "Build Titles Spans" under the RocketTheme "Advanced" tab.

When I have some more content up I will post a link. There is a recent post in the JReviews forum stating that there are not any known issues with RT templates.

      I will update soon.

    • I am now well into development and there have been no issues at all, except having to turn of RT Span Titles.

      Check here: miraargentina.com.

I am using RokNavMenu, RokTabs, RokWeather and RokBox.

RokGZipper does NOT work with JReviews. It messes up JReviews images in certain JReviews modules.

The "remember me" box cannot be checked in the log-in popup, but I doubt this has anything to do with JReviews. I haven't had time to look into it yet.

Both RT and JReviews are very Javascript-heavy and obviously both have some great programmers behind the product. Nice, clean code that doesn't break when you add something to the site.

So, for JReviews users, I say go ahead and use RT templates. If I have any issues in the future I will re-post here.

    • I just did site optimization with JCH Optimizer. Got Page Speed in to the 80's, which with Java-heavy extensions such as RT and JReviews is pretty good. It took hours, checking JReviews JS files one by one and excluding them. RokGallery gave me a lot of problems. I had to place the JavaScript files at the first Java tag which is something I didn't have to do with other sites.

This post http://www.reviewsforjoomla.com/forum/index.php?topic=19072.0 details what I had to do. I still have to do a CDN and compress background images.

I am very happy with the results. RT templates and JReviews are probably two of the "heaviest" extensions for Joomla! and it's great to get them working together with a good Page Speed score.

BTW: the "remember me" box: There are posts all over the forum about this, most of them unanswered, because there are a few that RT devs DID answer. You can turn off input styling or add '#rt-popuplogin' to the input styling exceptions. Keep in mind that FireFox will NOT automatically fill in the password. There are lots of complaints about this. I don't know if it's a RT problem or a FF problem.

[EDIT] I am not using an RT template anymore on this project. Not that there were any problems, it's just that for this particular project I need page speed scores in the 90's, which I am afraid is impossible with JReviews+JomSocial+RT. One of them had to go... [/EDIT]
