I have used RT templates on scores of JReviews sites and the only problem I have run in to is incompatibilty with RokBox2. The backward compatibility mode (which should be disabled anyway) breaks JReviews 2.4. And the thumbnail generator does not work in com_content on JReviews Listing Detail pages. It does work fine in modules on JReviews pages.
I no longer use JCH Optimize. I was in contact with the dev a while ago and I used to make periodic dontations to the cause. However he stated months ago that he will not be supporting it anymore. JReviews 2.4.x.x is nearly impossible to optimize using compression/caching plugins. It is very heavy on JQuery. Combine that with RT which is heavy on the MooTools and you have a difficult task ahead of you using optimization plugins
As templates, components and modules get more and more complex it is of utmost importance that we, as designers/developers, do not neglect the importance of a good hosting plan. I encourage all my clients that have the budget to go for SiteGround Semi-dedicated hosting at a minimum. There are probably other hosting companies that offer similar solutions. The important thing here is getting access to Apache's mod_deflate which compresses all website content before delivering to a user's browser. This makes compression plugins unnecessary. Add a CDN to the mix and you will be forgetting about all your problems.
This is an old post, and my site:
miraargentina.com
is now on a dedicated server with Apache's deflate module. 5 CDNs are feeding the site. I am using Joomla System Cache and Joomla Module Cache. The site is incredibly fast given its styling (RT), functionality (RT and JReviews) and DB queries (JReviews).
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of good hosting plans for complex websites.
I have some problems with Jreviews and RT. There appear some Javascript errors and the dorectory module is not displayed properly:
The errors:
Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined jquery-ui-1.9.2.custom.min.js?v=24:6
Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined jquery.ui.datepicker-de.js?v=24:3
Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined jreviews-ck.js?v=24:2
Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined jquery.treeview-ck.js?v=24:1
I am not familiar with that. Does anybody has an idea how to solve that?
Regards,
Dan
