    • Sorry everyone, I found it. I had to log out and log back in after renewing subscription before those template forums became available. Have a great rest of your weekend!

    • I, too, have a template-specific question that I'm now stuck trying to deal with, specifically, how to remove the variation chooser in Replicant v2, without having it squash everything in the User1/2/3 positions, and I, too, had a membership that expired yesterday.

Now that being said, my site is working flawlessly. The only reason I'm researching this now is because I need to demonstrate a quick (but not publicly accessible) deployment to my employer to convince them to spring for a developer membership if they want me to develop sites for them, and not being able to get back to a solution I found once before without shelling out more money really irks me.

Where I have a HUGE problem with the membership model here is that membership is required in order to research template-specific issues that have already been solved. I'd be fine with having to maintain a current membership in order to continue to receive active support, which is well worth the price, but having to pay recurring membership fees just to be able to re-read old posts about solutions I've found before but simply forgotten is outrageous.

Charging recurring fees for interactive forum support is fine, but you really do need to allow customers who have purchased a product from you in the past to at least read the related discussions that were available during their paid support period.

    • Barticus,

Please note when you subscribe to RT you are A) purchasing a specific number of entitlements and B) subscribing to access to the forum for the a certain length of time.

While you are subscribed, you have access to all the templates and can use any one of them for your site(s).

Once your subscription has expired, you may still have as many RT theme sites as you are entitled to, but you lose access to the template specific forums.

This is clearly defined in the TOS.

Again, please note you are not purchasing a specific template per-say, you are purchasing the right to download any template and access the forum for the duration of your membership.

If you were purchasing a single template, perhaps you would be given access to a specific forum, but although you don't like the membership modle here, that would limit you to one specific forum.

Seems to me that would be worse; if you wanted to use another template, you'd have to purchase it to gain access to that specific forum.

As RT releases new templates, members often switch from one template to the next.

For example, a member subscribes for three months and for 2 months and 29 days they use template 'A', but when a new template comes out they decide to switch to template 'B'.

Perhaps in that 2 months and 29 days, they've asked a lot of questions and received support.

Now they want to use a new template, their membership has expired, and they still want support.

No matter where you go or what you buy, there are limits on warranties or service contracts.

      No company offers perpetual support.

As far as the Variation Chooser goes....

It's published to user2, but there is some code in user1 that may be causing your problem:

Also note, 'We take a fresh approach to design.' is published to User 1 as FP header, you may also want to unpublish / edit that Module as well.

The 'We take a fresh approach to design.' is published to User 1 as FP header and contains the following code:
<div style="overflow: auto; padding-bottom: 15px; position: absolute; width: 550px; height: 200px">&nbsp; <h3 style="font-size: 270%; margin-top: 5px">We take a <span style="font-style: italic">fresh</span> approach to design.</h3>&nbsp; <span style="font-size: 110%">One of our most popular template designs makes its return in the brand new Replicant v2. Replicant v2 takes the spirit of the original Replicant to an entirely new level with an unprecedented level of style, beauty, and flexibility. Combining the beauty of a powerful transparent design, with a whole new level of features and functionality, Replicant v2 is really something special.<br /><br />Replicant v2 features a fully transparent structure that not only adapts to any width or height, but is also fully supported in IE6. Breathe life into your site with incredible color and background images without sacrificing functionality. <a href="index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13&Itemid=27">Learn more...</a> </span>&nbsp; </div>

      The code:
      <div style="overflow: auto; padding-bottom: 15px; position: absolute; width: 550px; height: 200px">&nbsp;

is in the Module to force the width and height, if you only edit the text without altering the code, the placement will not change and causing text overflow and Modules in User2 not to display properly.

Go back to that Module, switch to HTML view, remove the code and you should be OK.

I just created two new modules on my local install, User 1 & 2, removed the code, and published them side by side.

If this info does not resolve your issue, please pot back, and of course, please consider renewing. :)

    • Naturally, your solution worked perfectly, so thank you for that.

As for the support issue, I suppose I can see some validity in both sides of the argument. The open entitlement model does obviously complicate things with regard to allowing access to specific forums, come to think of it.

And I know that nobody offers free unlimited support, but read-only access to a particular forum still seems quite reasonable, certainly at least for a user who is only interested in one template. Perhaps there could be some way of selecting the template(s) to which you are applying your entitlement(s), that would allow you read-only access after membership lapses, but require active membership to change those associations?

Now obviously, this really only makes sense for memberships that contain a very small number of entitlements. As a web developer, I will of course (have the company) purchase a developer subscription, and consider renewal simply part of the overhead. Essentially, your support model is extremely friendly to developers, who will presumably have a revenue stream attached to cover the cost of membership and the benefits it offers.

    • I have Firenzie which I installed when I was a member. But now I have upgraded to PHP 5.3 and the template breaks. The latest version I have is 1.5.1 and wanted to ask if there were an update which supports the latest of PHP 5.3.

Since I consider this to be a problem with more of your templates, I post it here. Just as a reminder.

    • Are you sure it's not joomla that's breaking? Joomla 1.5.14 is not fully compatible with php 5.3. That's why there's a test release of 1.5.15 on the joomla.org site to test php 5.3 computability.

    • I'm using the test version listed on www.joomla.org already. So I can't make what is causing this. If I change template, it works.

    • I've been looking and looking but cannot find the forum for Afterburner. If you could provide a link, or navigation directions, it would be appreciated

I'm having difficulty with the header displaying properly in Internet Explorer. URL is http://www.naitoenvironmental.com . The company logo and the jpeg of course align nicely in Firefox but the header falls below the logo in IE.

      thanks

    • Ok, I fixed the spacing problem in IE, however now in FF the logo moves right against the image rather than staying to the left.

Also, my subscription is still active, I believe, I can view and post in all the other template forums.
