    • ...which is why we just need an updated Populus community-building site of the garden variety generic form. ;)

...community sites are big right now; in fact, if you look at the 'most popular' templates listed on bestofjoomla, Populus is favorited nearly twice as much as its next closet competitor.

The new CB might release stable some year (after more than a year of beta milking), and with the popularity of JomSocial, it's a no brainer, sir.

I predict this months is a community template, guys, so the wait is over! Introducing:

Please RT .. we need to see a jomsocial template

And you'll get one just as soon as JomSocial has GPL or at least free 'lite' version :)

Don't just read this response and go on about your business...go over to JomSocial's Forum and start asking questions and making requests!

    • And go to your local car dealership and ask them for free cars, too....got about the same chance as that happening.

And please don't spam the JomSocial forums with such nonsense...makes my job over there harder. ;) And remember boys and girls, you get what you pay for...just like with RT templates. ;)

    • :S so there is no jomsocial template and an upgrade for rokbridge to work with jomsocial .. for some reason i thought thats what RT will come up for this month ..
:S im mad at this moment and i really need to blame some1 ..
maaan when am i gonna start building my community site :S really ... we need a populus v2 ..
the problem is that jomsocial developers are really busy to get this software more stable and i dont think they have time for templates ... n here where RT role comes .. so
RT and Azrul should contact each other ..
two good companies should have some sort of connection ..

    • I think part of the issue here is that JomSocial has a long ways to go. I've been trying to be patient, but after looking further and further into things, and then checking with others who know js code, it seems like it's a ways from being stable and it's still in jQuery...which still doesn't make sense to me.

I wouldn't hold your breath and I would anticipate a fairly large code rewrite of JomSocial at some point in it's not to distant future. There is just too much there for them to bug squash in a reasonable amount of time.

I already responded to that sentiment in another post. www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=16&t=47696&rb_v=viewtopic
I believe it has more to do with the development team and their principles than anything. RocketTheme has free templates and they are by far the best Joomla template club. I own two pro versions of JomSocial and wouldn't mind seeing a watered-down version if it helped support the community. It won't affect me in any way because I would have still bought pro. I also know what to expect from Azrul and his team. They have a proven track record which is why we all took the plunge.

Just to add to this further. Azrul either has to release JomSocial under a GPL license or offer a free version. From what I understand, any Joomla extension must be released under GPL anyway. And Azrul wants template clubs to support his product, otherwise he wouldn't have a page on the website dedicated to it. So I don't see why either option can't be pursued further.

What kind of 'bugs' are you running into, Ben? Perhaps I could help you resolve them...JS1.1 is going to add some nice features, but the bugs are almost nonexistant now, so I am curious what kind of problems you are having...'bug' wise. The biggest hurdle has been to tweak the code to play nicely with template clubs' templates. ;)

I already round house kicked that attitude in the face .

Okay, I think we have all digressed...suffice it to say that we can scratch that off the list of things "Mr. Miller have been up to."

Let's keep it civil as we wait for the next masterpiece, guys. (communicado!) .

    • Seriously, I don't think it's reasonable to ask for a template, specifically built to support a component that almost none of us in here uses.

Yes, JS has had a lot of TALK going on, but at the end of the day, 99% of us uses CB and will continue to do so for several reasons. I've been on betatestteam for CB and the upcomming CBSubscriptions and I know for sure, that there's nothing that JS does, that the new CB doesn't go beyond and do even better - and it's GPL, right? So if anything, a "Populus 2009 / phpbb3" would be niiiiiiiiice :)

If you were to ask for component-specific templates, I would say that a shop (Virtuemart), a "yellow pages" (Moset Tree) or reviews (jReviews) site would be a bigger benefit to more people.

    • Hello everyone!!
Brand new here and wanted to say hello. Brand new to Joomla! 2 days now. Sure is a lot different going this way vs. sketches and slicing PSDs. Just signed up with RocketTheme today and all I can say is WOW. I look forward to learning a bunch from all of you. What a awesome product that you have. The thought of giving back is just so cool! Can't wait to learn as much as possible and to be able to offer help on the discussion boards :cheesy: 8)
