Notice: Proceed with caution. Simplistic approach to follow with knowledge it ain't that simple... so you devs out there don't slam me <<hugs and grins>>
I'm am more of a hobbyist in "practice" than a professional, though I am about as "educated" as you can get without a degree on building websites. I don't distinguish the difference with paying clients. It's taken me 7 years to learn what I know about Joomla from the ground up, the same way I learned other codes over the last 3 decades. Even so, I am dedicated to learning all of the CMS formats and having access to those templates would benefit me personally, regardless if I actually "used" them on a live site.
RT has been "the" major player in helping me learn more than I would have about Joomla on my own. (I consider RT my own private "Template University.") Members here have been awesome and the tutorials are top notch.
I somewhat understand why RT chose to break up the pricing for each CMS system, however, the point is, lower tiered members have a limited number of entitlements. It really shouldn't matter which format we use. After all, the templates are the "same" (appearance) regardless of which CMS is used. And lest we forget, (almost) every site using a RT template is advertising as "most of us" acknowledge their role in the production of a site.
If the themes and appearance varied between the CMS formats, I could see it. And yes, I realize it requires time for each CMS to code. My thinking is, once the "look" is set, the rest isn't that difficult to customize for each system.
Also, think of how many MORE members (esp. developers) would be attracted by the choice of CMS options. This "benefit" would probably increase revenue rather than the opposite.
Soooo, if you get a Developer's License, you should be able to access ALL of RT, but that's just my humble opinion. I'm sure the accounting would be easier that way as well.
I think we should open up a poll on this one. The results could be interesting.

Leave it to that damn Conan to stir the pot again. :cheesy:
I agree a lot with Carol. I use Joomla for the majority of my work but I have requests for each of the other CMSs offered now by RT.
It's tough when a potential client has an older site that was built with WP (or Drupal) and wants an "update" but instead of just acknowledging that the "customer is always right" I end up having to try to "sell" Joomla.
A few random thoughts:
1 - To preemptively answer my own question, there is a way to get all that RT offers: pay for each membership separately.
This would seem to be pretty messy in the end however... multiple start and end dates, forum access, general confusion and discontentment.
2 - The "Pay One Price" model seems to be one of the reasons RT is so successful.
3 - The other CMSs offered don't yet have nearly the back catalog that Joomla does (here at RT)
4 - Where are the free samples? Maybe not to the general public, but maybe current paying members could get tossed a bone? (I come from the days when we used to launch the site on the 1st and every so often there would be a "bonus" template!)
WP: Clients are all over the board, pros and amateurs, small to large. Most can be satisfied with template that is either free or well under $20US.
Drupal: Larger organizations that are usually already decided on the CMS but have no design idea (or sense) at all.
Magento: Higher paying gigs where the client usually knows the CMS and template and just wants you to "make it all work". Usually makes more sense to buy a single template for each specific job.
I am not asking to pay less, I am asking to be allowed to pay more. Just keep it simple for us. One price, one renewal date and all of our CMS needs under one roof.
Can't wait to see the new design!
And here's to staying on top! - Cheers

Keep it as it is now where you can choose a template club and add one more payment option for all Clubs.
And if you are real cool also add one more option to buy a single template at a fixed price where you gain access to that specific templates forum for lets say a month.

Carol, Conan, you both raise good points. One of the primary reasons we do not already have a 'super club' subscription is that it's just not technically possible with our current subscriptions code. This along with other features is definitely on our list of things to address with our next version of our club code.
