Option to buy single template for multiply platforms should also be an option...
I.E. sit builders who need phpBB and Joomla! and why not Magento and WordPress on one and the same "site". - Ivo Apostolov

And if you are real cool also add one more option to buy a single template at a fixed price where you gain access to that specific templates forum for lets say a month.
Easy as that
In my (not so) humble opinion these are good examples of the almost endless possibilities and combinations that would just make things too difficult for the RT membership model and for the staff.
I feel that simple is usually better, and in this case maybe just offering a discount to current members who wish to join other clubs would be a nice stop-gap until RT offers the "super club" as Mr. Miller mentioned.

I am a very happy customer of Rockettheme and I enjoy each month's template release even if it does not fit my personal needs exactly...
However, looking back at the history of Rockettheme templates I feel something is missing...there are news/magazine / e-store / entertainment / sci-fi / community - styled templates....but a clear Culture, Science - styled template seems to be missing...
A template with the elegance of Meridian, the subtle but striking design of Refraction, the lively character of Infuse, the power and dynamic quality of Hybrid/Maelstrom and the clear lines of a Versatility4/Afterburner...
A template that could fit the design needs of a University's History/Archeology, Ethnography, or Arts Department..
...powerful, elegant, subtle, colorful, clear...

The idea behind using a template is that you contribute that extra 10% towards the design to customise it to your personal needs.
