Mission Control Bug - 2.5 Update

Posted 12 years 9 months ago
    • So, I've discovered that my site doesn't seem to register the latest mission control update. It keeps prompting me to update the template. However, there are now multiple Mission control templates displaying in the template manager and none of them can be deleted.

I've attached a print of what the template manager looks like.

      The site is www.gamermancy.com

    • You can use the old school method of installing Mission Control via the Extension Manager.
As for the multiple instance names, I've ticketed this bug already.

    • I have installed via the extensions manager, and despite the successful installation, the update does not clear.

    • Any updates on this "multiplication" bug?

It's hitting me hard in a number of (as yet, not fully identified) scenarios.

      Thanks, RT.

I've created a ticket for the dev team to have a look at this.
In the interim start PhpMyadmin and search your DB for "rt_missioncontrol"
You should find the real one and its duplicates in the jml25_extensions table.
Hopefully only one will have in the "custom_data" field "{"last_update":.........."
So then delete the other ones.

    • The multiple instances of MissionControl (and actually any template) is a bug in Joomla 2.5.0 and 2.5.1. We are just waiting on them to fix this in Joomla as it is clearly a pretty big bug.

You can follow my posting about this in the Joomla bug squad forums:

    • I have recently upgraded to 2.5.1 and have encountered this error. Let me say thank you for being so hands on in the Joomla development process and working to resolve such issues. I have tried to read the multiple threads and tracking on the issue, but I can't make heads or tails of what the resolution is to be. It appears that the issue has been fixed, but no patch is being released.

      My questions are:
      - Does this issue affect other parts of Joomla other than templates, and if so should I not install new extensions and such until it is fixed?
      - Is there a way to remove the duplicate template entries from the database manually until the fix is released?
      - When the fix is released, will it include code to remove the duplicate entries or will it merely prevent it from occurring in the future?
      - Any idea on an eta for the fix?

      Thanks again,
      -Sean W.

    • BTW: I located the entries for the 3 MissionControl templates in the following Joomla tables in the DB: jos_extensions & jos_template_styles.

I had to delete the duplicate entries in both tables manually. Now the template manager only shows 1 version of the template, and not 6 (3 of each instance). Yeah.

    • Do we know if this issue has been resolved in the latest 2.5.2 release?

    • Looking at the files it seems they stil have not fixed it. I'm going to look at creating a patch and fix for this problem as it's widespread and not just limited to RT templates.
