    • @Terp, you are right, lemon juice is great for cleansing and I recall beet juice is great for the liver too. I think you can get beet powder to add to drinks so you don't get all that sugar that beets have.

@Wage, one more thing I forgot to mention is clean water. I use a great water filter called the Big Berkey which is a gravity-fed filtering unit. What you do is fill up a top chamber with tap water or from a locally sourced spring and the water trickles through the filters via gravity. The filters are extremely effective and will even filter out food coloring as proof. It's also good for filtering locally sourced water and rain water so if there is a drought or water shortage, you can use these sources to get clean water. The company also sells fluoride filter addons.

I've used this one for the last 18 months. The water tastes super clean and it's saved money on bottled water and other low grade filters. You just have to buy new filters every 6,000 gallons or so. I change them about every 10-12 months.

Either way, just be sure to drink a lot of clean water.

    • It is with deep regret that I am updating this thread with the news that Robert passed away on 26th May 2012 at a relatively young age and in the prime of his life. Sincere condolences go to Robert's family from all of us here at RocketTheme.

Robert, known to many of us as Wage, had been struggling with ill health for some while now and he underwent many medical procedures. Despite the pain and limitations to his physical abilities he remained a devoted family man and participated on these forums as much as his health would allow.

Wage was a long-term member of the RocketTheme community and was always willing to help where he could. He had an exuberant and infectious humour that went well with his kind and good-natured personality. This thread is a tribute to his strength and courage and we know Robert took great positivity from the support that this community provided when he was feeling low.

It is times like this that make us very proud to be members of this community and we would like to thank all of those members who posted and supported Robert through his hard times.

Robert - Now your physical suffering has ended may you rest in peace.

On behalf of the RocketTheme Team

    • Sorry to hear the bad news that Robert passed away. I really thought he would beat the MDS, his blog here was an inspiration and just showed the fight he gave and what people have to do to get a transplant. You will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

    • It is very sad for his family to lose Mr. Wagers, but sometimes death can be a blessing, when you are suffering. He kept a positive attitude in his posts to this forum, but his reports were getting more serious and less frequent.

When he said that he had cirrhosis of the liver, from his chemo treatments, it became fairly clear that he was in decline. An old friend of mine went through a similar sequence of events, and I firmly believe that she welcomed the relief from the pain and other difficulties that her cancer brought to her life.

Mr. Wagers seemed to be a devoted Christian and thus has no reason to fear death. The Bible teaches that there is much to anticipate, when our lives are over, if we have accepted Christ's gift of salvation. That leaves only the sadness of being away from our family.

Personally, I feel blessed to have interacted with Mr. Wagers, as he endured his illness. Many of us may have to deal with something similar, some time in our lives. We would do well to recognize the value of Robert's positive attitude in allowing him to survive for as long as he did.

    • This is very sad news today. Robert was a fighter as is well documented in this thread and I'm sure he went to great lengths in ways we could not see here to fight for his health and to keep his family in order at the same time. He served our country and sounded like a stand up guy in all areas of life.

WBoro, I too noticed his updates were less often and I was hoping we'd see them pick up again. My aunt died of liver cirrhosis a few years back and you really have to take rapid measures to turn that situation around. It sounded like the meds were becoming too much of a burden for his system to handle.

I'm very glad to see he accepted the gift of eternal salvation from Jesus Christ. That means he is now in heaven with family members in peace in his mansion (John 14:2) with a brand new body. For all the suffering he had to endure here, I'm sure he had something extra special prepared for him up there.

Robert, may God bless you for all eternity!
