- I don't mind if you did.. It's just It would be nice to have been notified if I did violate some kind of rules.. And I thought it would be okay because RT does not offer in house logo development.. I just thought I would be friendly and pass on my savings to you guys.. But please at least let me know if I violated a rule or something.. I mean cause I like it here...

there is a rule against advertising, and since there is no way for RT to determine whether someone who makes such posts is an owner of the company, an employee, or just a guy trying to help other members out by telling us about the promotion, I guess they have to have a blanket policy.

I was kinda thinking the same thing when I got the response I did... I mean there are posts all over the place with links.. I think because we pay to even talk here, simple word of mouth "advertising" for services that RT does not offer and do not plan to offer should be allowed..
Especially if people are allowed to ask for help.. and we're allowed to give it to them then.. Why shouldn't we be allowed to preemptively make a post saving them the time of asking? I mean of course you don't want us advertising other template clubs... But to tell people they can get a logo for $70 when people are asking for logo designer's on here every week, and RT won't do logos.. Does that mean we should tell them that we are not allowed to make a referral? Does that mean you should delete all the posts from people willing to pay for help? They are advertising their need for help and an ability to pay for that help.. I paid to be here and to be told I can't help other members.. Especially when I posted in a members only section..
And given the nature of the country I live in I think we should really put it on a poll too... So... If you feel like I do, and want to request to be able to use simple word of mouth to help other members as long as it doesn't affect RT's Business, then please vote in my poll.. - Last Edit: 17 years 5 months ago by William Fay.

- Also I know that this is kind of premature on my part as no moderators or admins responded... But I'm hoping they do get involved.. Because I do kind of feel let down now ... Especially after I saw all the "referrals" being handed out publicly on the forum when people stated they needed help... I just figured then it would be ok to recommend a service "before" someone asked.. and then to be deleted and not even a single thread of communication was given to me to tell me I had "broken" the rules.. Just deleted my topic and hoped I wouldn't notice.. Really feel like a tool now.. Like I gave my money to a bunch of nazis... Like I said.. I like it here .. I'd like to stay.. But if my topics are going to be deleted without notice or warning.. Then I might have to pack my bags.. Even though I'd hate to..

the question in the poll is should you be allowed to refer services not offered by RT; well the answer is you can. but if you're asking to
recommend a service "before" someone asked
then of course you cant. this is a forum, not a market
if someone asks for a service on any of the forums and you pm them there isn't an issue ... you could even put something in your signature; as long as it's not taking the p%^s, re. the services you offer. alternatively if someone asks for a service or help; reply to the post ...

Well understandably so.. there should a place then members with talents or friends can post the info so people needing the help can look it up.. A members only forum.. SO only members can post and only members can read..
I see posts all over without PM's of links and referral's
And If you read the post then you understand what I'm saying.. The poll is really saying Should RT members be allowed to offer their services before being asked?

well then you should change the poll or delete it because they shouldn't be allowed to do that and from what i understand are not allowed to

I understand that .. The biggest thing that burns me is that I was not notifed of the deletion or supposed violation.. Plus.. It just sucks cause now I feel like I'm not free to say what I want here.. whereas I thought I was. Cause others do it... I mean it weirds me out the stance you take to as in your profile you list yourself as the owner of a joomla theme club affiliate site that promotes all template clubs.. which are in direct competition with RT.. and you list a link in your signature after every post.. If we should not be allowed to advertise or refer a service, then you should have to leave commercial site links in your profile...
Being a forum.. Have you ever been to a public forum.. Where all the business owners from the community hand out business cards to the citizens that come.. Cause they tend to be better customers as well..
I'm just saying we're all here for the same cause.. To get RT templates.. We all PAID to be here.. Why shouldn't we be able to tell everyone that this site has 12% off for RT members cause I personally worked it out with them????? - Last Edit: 17 years 5 months ago by William Fay.

put it in your signature. your signature is in essence your business card here ... just try and keep it within guidelines
you pay for the templates; not the forum. the forum is an added bonus. many template providers dont offer such community driven facilities as this forum and you have to rely on a ticketing system. if everyone was allowed to go promoting there businesses then this forum wouldn't get used because it would just become a market place. the rules/guidelines are there to benefit everyone ... - www.c3p0.se - sweden
