    • Tried Alpha 5 of cb connector with phpbb3 a couple of days ago. Theres a pic of the actual integration on the cbconnector board here: cbconnector.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=99

Its an alternative to Fireboard at least.

    • Made a post here on the SMF issue: forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,194762.0.html

With both smf bridges being discontinued amongst all the other similar issues, this has severely impacted the usefulness in using Joomla in general, especially for the few site ideas I had planned.

The issue needs to be resolved now.

    • With all due respect, I wish someone would do some actual research on how many successful and popular websites exist WITHOUT a forum at all.
Even if there is no bridge, what is to stop people from using SMF or any board on the same website as a joomla install.
I mean how many people posting on the forums need registered access to the site itself?

I like SMF it is a great piece of work, and If I need it I will make it work with or without a bridge.
Just guessing though there will be a forum option for Joomla 1.5 just give it time.

    • Something will always fill the void, if SMF is not going to be the forum system for 1.5, something else will take it place - and I do not mean fireboard.

    • That's not what I meant.

The bit about how if you buy a component then put it on a site for a client you are onselling the component and thus liable for GPL infringement.

But how long will we have a to wait. It could be months or years before a suitable replacement if available.

    • Call me optimist but I am sure something will come soon.

Now a question, Orstio has developed his bridge, would it be fine if he installed it onto your website? I know its not an incredible bad option but just curious?

Why not Fireboard? Yes it's still in beta but from what I have seen on joomlacode Fireboard SVN looks rather cool and some Russian dude release his own FB russian edition that was awesome and the BOJ team have added him to there core team and all the feature that were in the FB russian edition will appear in 1.0.2 which is nearly here :o

      thanks

Nope. I asked that question already.

Otherwise all our GPL woes would be solved by not selling extensions but by charging $xx for 'installation' (if you need it or not) of a component that fell out of the sky. :p
