    • Now you're on the right line, if you do something that your competitors are not doing, then you may find your niche. I assume you use a cPanel? I find AWstats absolutely invaluable.

    • It is good that most of your hits are coming from the UK, it will be pretty pointless to most of them came from the USA. You'll still want to keep a very close eye on your keyword phrases as well. This is what I do, it gives a good indication of how well I have setup my meta-information. AWstats gives you keywords that have been used throughout each month. It would be better if it listed the keywords for each day, rather than compiling them all for each month. I suppose you could keep an eye on the number of keywords, but that's quite a lot of work.
Sorry, I have blocked out my keywords, I don't want to give them away to any competitors :D

    • Why don't you use Google analytics Penn so much more detail and ways to qualify and test data?

Actually Emma, I have got Google analytics on one of my sites. I did have it on all of my sites when I was using 1.0 but never got around to putting it back on them since migrating. I know what you mean that, it does give you a really good daily analysis of what has been going on on your site.

      how do i "checkout keywordspy"?
I know i can spy the keywords using the whois database and using Mozilla webdeveloper add on to view the "source" of the page.I mean if there's a "tool" to do that....

      Hi Emma,
this is another thing that you might know...i built a site that is composed of two platforms in the same domain(cs cart and joomla). Both have Google analytics as independent modules. That means if i want to control both platforms(that are in ther same domain)i have to use two google analytics?

    • Hi Gabrieluk, well you don't have to set up two separate independent instances of analytics you can add a profile to the existing domain called for instance shop. Although personally I prefer to use two separate tracking codes.

For instance we have clients with a site, shop and blog now we could add a profile for each site but then you have a bloated report and you are losing out on simplified data qualification. It is easier to run 3 profiles to better see how each entity is going. When viewing the blog data we can see immediately what impact each post has on the overall goal. It also makes it better for setting up goals within the analytics account.

Another example of this is a client that has a main site, then sub sites that cover each state. We could add profiles for each sub site but it is better to see how each sub site is performing as it's own entity.

You have to remember just because a site is in the same domain does not mean it is within the same CMS or site. Our client with the sub sites actually has 6 separate sites within the one domain, they all look identical but the targeting is completely different and if we were for argument sake going to franchise that later on we have separate state level data to work with.
